I'm sorry I gave it such a low rating since it's an indie author, but I'm staying true to myself.
“Now, if we’re done here, Blake was about to show me his cock—cockpit. The inside of his cockpit. His car’s cockpit. Inside of his car…that he drives.”
This was the final straw. The book was going nowhere, the humor was weird and not funny. The quotes were questionable and their attraction to each other was the weird sexual kind.
I spare you the details, but maybe do yourself a favor if you're like me and avoid this one. Support indie authors, but maybe not this particular one.
If you need f1 romance recs, i'm your girl.

🔸Класні головні герої, які вміють слухати і говорити один з одним. Елла - дотепна, саркастична, турботлива, не лізе за словом в карман і може вибити землю з під ніг своїми запитаннями. І Блейк - похмурий, грубий, буркотливий, але в той же час дуже вразливий, уважний і захисний.
🔸Окрім головних, також чудові другорядні персонажі. Я вже хочу книжку про Тео
🔸Дотепні жарти. Я хіхікала мало не на кожній сторінці. Манера спілкування Елли - це щось з чимось, а реакція Блейка на її підколи ще смішніша😂 І в цілому взаємодії цієї парочки викликали посмішку, майже всю книгу, про що тут говорити, коли в них навіть секс з гумором😂.

🔸Сподобалося як розвивалися стосунки Блейка і Елли, як від неприязні вони переросли у дружбу, а згодом у дещо більше. Гарно показано як герої дізнавалися один одного, багато спілкувалися, фліртували, піклувалися один про одного. Ти розумієш, чому вони закохалися, адже хімію між ними видно неозброєним оком;

I'm relatively new to the F1 racing genre but this book was perfect! I really enjoyed the characters and the atmosphere. The banter was was top notch🤌🏻🤌🏻 I can't wait to see what Carly does next!

гонщик Формули-1 і журналістка, яка водночас пише його біографію. для Блейка це не було радісною новиною, враховуючи всі жарти, які вона випускала про нього на своєму подкасті. але, попри небажання, йому доводиться змиритися. і це приносить йому чи не найкращу людину в своє життя. Елла дотепна і не уявляє себе без жартів. але іноді за цим приховується біль і глибокі рани..
Блейк хоч і не відразу збагнув що до чого, але вчасно виправився. вони з Еллою добре відкрилися одне одному і максимально зрозуміли. у обох шрами минулого, і вони вміло допомагають зцілити одне одного. бусінки. багато терапії та розповідей головних героїв про те, що було і як вони справляються з цим. від цього книжка стає ще ближчою читачеві.

Let me just start this by saying I literally laughed out loud at the first line of the book and knew it wouldn’t disappoint. I enjoyed this read so much and loved seeing the FMC&MMC character developments. The banter between these two made this so enjoyable because it was all so real feeling. The 90s references had me laughing and enjoying it even more! I loved that the book touched so many serious topics but was still so loving at the same time. This is my first formula 1 racing read and it didn’t disappoint! I had literal chills over the details. I can’t wait to see more from this author!

3.75⭐️ non avevo alte aspettative, però ero curiosa di leggerlo…posso dire che arrivata al 45% ero abbastanza investita nella storia, poi quando si sono messi insieme (dopo poco tempo) ho perso l’interesse, relazione molto piatta e non è successo un granché... nonostante tutto l’ho trovato carino, e l’ho preferito ad alcuni libri a cui ho dato le tre stelle e mezzo

i enjoyed this book, i liked both characters and her sass was amazing. i LOVED the quotes, absolute perfection. i definitely have some parts were i thought it was corny but overall loved the book and i loved the writing. fast paced and kept my attention which is hard recently for me! 💗

I was very excited for this book to come out. Too bad it was such a letdown :(
Personally it feels like the author wrote a 500 pages long book but forgot to send half of those pages to the printer. There were some weird cut-offs and some strange jumps. A lot of events are shortly recapped in a next chapter instead of written out as part of the story which feels like lazy writing. The pacing was just off.
Ella is annoying and I came close to hating Blake. He’s sexualising Ella from the beginning and somehow he suddenly has feelings for her that felt like they came out of nowhere. To me it looked like he “grew” feelings just to sleep with her. Ella on the other hand came across as a very cringy person, however I did like some of her banter towards Blake and others. Quotes like ‘Blake was about to show me his cock—cockpit. The inside of his cockpit. His car’s cockpit. Inside of his car…that he drives” & “I thought you were packing heat, not smuggling a goddamn anaconda in there. Do they not stop you at customs when you travel?” just made me cringe very hard.
The therapy part was well done. I’ve read other books were they only mention that a character is going to therapy and that’s it. I love that this author actually put a few therapy sessions in there, it helps the story and sympathy for the main characters. That being said, Ella’s trauma is definitely something a lot of women can sympathise with but in this book it wasn’t really well executed imho. It just could’ve been so much better.

what did I just read !! this book is an absolute garbage. It lacks a plot, the characters barely developed, no proper peak, no relationship development, and not to mention the author’s lousy writing style.
It seemed that the author read the “dirty air series by Lauren Asher” and decided to copy that (by combining all the books in one book)
It’s 2024 why are women still writing misogynistic characters … why are female authors still prefer the “pick me girl” “ I’m not like the other girls kinda girl” whyyy !!!
How can female authors still write the “strong independent woman” female characters that shits on other women!!
And don’t get me started on the MMC… Blake is such an unattractive fictional character, he’s boring, acts like a literal child despite being thirty years old, a massive Noah Slade wanna-be.
Lastly, the way the author handled such a sensitive topic as SA was absolute nonsense.
Reading this book was a waste of time

Ella just left her successful sports podcast on rough terms and now she’s accepted a job as the biographer for a famous Formula 1 driver, Blake. Ella smack talked Blake during a prior podcast so things start off on the wrong foot.
Blake is broody, grumpy, and doesn’t want to settle down from his playboy lifestyle.
Ella is fun, flirty, and ready for a serious commitment.
The chemistry and the banter were top tier. He calls her “love” 🥵🫣. This book was HILARIOUS! There were so many great funny and swoon worthy quotes!

This was such a good book. I loved every second of this book from the plot line, the spice, and the serious mental health topics. The FMC was hilarious and there was great banter. I laughed out loud at the very first line of the book. I also loved how vulnerable the MMC was once he opened up a little. I loved the open discussion of mental health and therapy, especially the famous MMC being open about being in therapy. Therapy isn't openly talked about enough and it was such a good representation. These two were great for each other and so enjoyable to read about. There was some top tier groveling, the podcast scene, and many others, had me laughing out loud. I enjoyed everything about this book and highly recommend to any sports romance lovers.

Anscheinend sind zumindest die Formel 1 Fahrer Ende 20, doch sie benehmen sich wie kleine Teenager. Sie sind unglaublich kindisch und sexbesessen. So ist ein Wetteinsatz, dass Ella als Verliererin "ihm sagen [muss], ich hätte dir erzählt, wie wir gemeinsam mit einer Frau den Eiffelturm in Frankreich gemacht haben." Der Teamkollege ist zudem mega aufdringlich. "Deine Freundin will nicht, dass wir einen Dreier haben, aber ich finde, das müssen wir mal in der Gruppe besprechen"
Dementsprechend unangenehm sind auch die Sexszenen. Ella haut Namen wie "Indiana Bones", "Long Dong Silver", "Jurassic Pork", "Dicktator", "Cocktapus", und "King Dong" raus. Diese Namen benutzt er teilweise für sich selbst, was alles noch schlimmer macht. Richtig zum fremdschämen. Und er ist nicht besser und sagt am Ende "Wenn wir einen Jungen bekommen, hoffe ich, dass er so gut bestückt sein wird wie ich." Einfach unangebracht.
Ebenso unangebracht ist wie die Autorin mit dem Thema sexual assault umgeht. Er erzählt einfach der gesamten Welt, dass seine Freundin missbraucht wurde. Im Live TV. Ohne dass sie dem zugestimmt hat. Es ist nicht seine Sache und es geht niemanden was ein. Ich kann nicht glauben, dass das irgendjemand verzeihen würde.
Die Nebencharaktere existierten kaum. Alle 100 Seiten werden mal Namen genannt, die dann nie wieder irgendetwas machen, sodass man sie schon wieder komplett vergessen hat wenn sie das nächste Mal vorkommen. Sie sind einfach irrelevant für die Story. Die, die öfter mal vorkommen, wirken unrealistisch und antworten nicht in Sätzen, sondern brechen in Songs aus, als würden sie eine Musicalnummer performen. Was auch unrealistisch wirkt sind die Dates. Angeblich war ein Hotelmanager bereit, ein Restaurant für eine gesamte Woche zu schließen, nur damit er und Ella einen Abend dort verbringen können.
Der Vater von ihm wirkt wie ein 08/15 Villain, der in Kinderfilmen vorkommt, so eindimensional ist er.

Es ist nicht seine Sache und es geht niemanden was ein. Ich kann nicht glauben, dass das irgendjemand verzeihen würde.
Die Nebencharaktere existierten kaum. Alle 100 Seiten werden mal Namen genannt, die dann nie wieder irgendetwas machen, sodass man sie schon wieder komplett vergessen hat wenn sie das nächste Mal vorkommen. Sie sind einfach irrelevant für die Story. Die, die öfter mal vorkommen, wirken unrealistisch und antworten nicht in Sätzen, sondern brechen in Songs aus, als würden sie eine Musicalnummer performen. Was auch unrealistisch wirkt sind die Dates. Angeblich war ein Hotelmanager bereit, ein Restaurant für eine gesamte Woche zu schließen, nur damit er und Ella einen Abend dort verbringen können.
Der Vater von ihm wirkt wie ein 08/15 Villain, der in Kinderfilmen vorkommt, so eindimensional ist er.

This book was a perfect mixture of romance and F1 driving. I really enjoyed every part of it 🥰
Ella is my bestie. She has an extremely hilarious personality, and her ability to make Blake embarrassed was sth. The huge plus of the story is аwareness of mistakes and therapy with a psychologist. This aspect is not often shown in books, although it is an important component of mental health. Even though this story is a bit of a slowburn one, I didn't feel like it was too long.
Despite the fact that this is the author's debut, the book turned out to be excellent, and I look forward to reading more ❤️

Nagyon próbáltam, tényleg, de egyszerűen a főszereplő totális hitelét veszti a szexuális zaklatás, ami már szinte nemi erőszak, témával ott, hogy hosszú oldalakon keresztül ecseteli, hogy hol, hányszor, milyen pózokban és milyen intenzitással szexel a szuperszexi 8 kockás hasú Mr. Tökéllyel az őt ért bántalmazás után fél-egy évvel.
A 2 csillagot csupán azért kapja, mert voltak benne jó jelenetek, vicces párbeszédek. De inkább csak alsóhangú kettes....

Kto nemá rád športové romance, ja áno . Z oblasti F1 som ešte nič také nečítala, takže som bola veľmi zvedavá. Prostredie bolo skvelo vykreslené, pre mňa ako amatérku, priznám sa, ja nič takéto nesledujem, takže mi príbeh v podstate otvoril dvere do neznáma.
Osobne by som knihu zaradila medzi oddychovky, aj keď sa dotýka vážnejších tém. Čo sa týka humoru to bola rozhodne moja šálka kávy.
Na celom príbehu sa páčila najviac hlavná hrdinka a zatienila aj hlavného hrdinu. Ella mala v sebe správnu drzosť, dravosť a humor. Novinárka, ktorá si všetko musela vydrieť. Napriek tomu, čo sa jej stalo sa mne osbne páčilo, ako dokázala ísť ďalej. Áno, bojuje s traumou, ale za mňa veľmi silná hrdinka. Bála som sa, že autorka urobí z hlavného hrdinu superhrdinu, ale aj Blake má svoje chyby a tiež s niečím bojuje. Vďaka tomu mi prišiel Blake skutočný.
Ich vzťah je pomalý, za čo som bola rada. Doťahovačky či postupne zbližovanie v prvej polovici stáli za to. Zároveň, čo sa týka vášne hodnotila by som to, ako priemer. Mne v tejto knihe intímne scény nesadli, niektoré som už aj preskakovala.
Veľmi ma mrzí, že vážnejšie témy, s ktorými naše postavy bojovali boli spomenuté skôr veľmi okrajovo. Uvítala by som, keby autorka ide aspoň troška do hĺbky. Keďže témam, ako úzkosť či sexuálne napadnutie v tejto knihe venuje viac času, no pri čítaní som si uvedomovala, že spomenula vždy iba, taký základ ich problémov, ale ja by som uvítala aspoň v tomto väčšiu hĺbku. Tým pádom som sa nevedela až tak vžiť do ich problémov. A rozhodne prvá polovica knihy bola omnoho lepšia.
Zápletku som v podstate očakávala, keďže aj celý príbeh k niečomu podobnému smeroval. Tu som sa viac zamerala na sledovanie reakcií postáv.
Hodnotím to skôr ako priemer. Prostredie F1 a humor som si užila, ale tie vážne témy boli málo prepracované a intímne scény na mňa nijako nezapôsobili.

Елла - розумна, кмітлива, весела журналістка, яка бере участь у написанні біографііі гонщика формули-1 Блейка.
Перше знайомство пройшло не дуже, адже виникла ворожнеча між ними через попередні коментарі Елли про поведінку та водіння болідом Блейка.
Блейк - похмурий, буркотливий і самовпевнений пілот.
Мені дуже сподобалася взаємодія головних героїв з першої сторінки. Дуже смішні діалоги, та їхні реакції😂
Елла сильна, і вперта, не здавалася завоювати дружбу Блейка.
Взагалі авторка дуже добре описала розвиток стосунків героїв, від ворожнечі до дружби і до закоханості. Я дуже люблю коли все проходить плавно, вони знайомляться один з одним і починають закохуватися у справжню особистість, а не будуть відносини на хтивості, як часто буває в книгах.
Також з плюсів, як авторка піднімає тему ментального здоровʼя і важливість піклування про себе.
Мені дуже сподобався зріст Блейка. Чоловік, який не боїться визнати свої помилки, та бажає і стає кращим. Його підтримка, та довіра до Елли, це було дуууже мило 🫠🥰

this book was so cute! i'm always down for a reformed playboy sports romance, and this hit exactly how i wanted it to. if you love swoony protective mmc's that know how to grovel, this book is for you. i adored the main character, the side characters were top tier, the writing was hilarious, and it had depth while still being a fun romance.
