Rate this book
A virus similar to the Black Death outbreak has struck England. Mrs. Hawkins soon learns there are things worse than death. The dead have come back to life, and they are hungry.

Jim Hawkins is on his way home with treasure in the belly of the Hispaniola. Captain Smollett is back in charge of the ship, and Long John Silver has agreed to stand trial at home, if only for the chance to make it home.

Wanting only to save his mother and seek sanctuary, Jim realizes survival comes down to instinct and sacrifice in this continuation of Stevenson’s timeless classic, Treasure Island …

In a delightfully macabre continuation of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, Tomasso has brought new life - or rather, death - to characters more than one-hundred and thirty years old. This novella picks up on the Hispaniola's journey home with Long John Silver, Jim Hawkins, and Dr. Livesey; oblivious to the plague ravaging their homeland and taking their families with it.

Eat your heart out Stevenson, before one of Tomasso's undead does it for you. Treasure Island: A Zombie Novella is a short, one-sitting read that will make you both nostalgic for your childhood and feed your need for the undead. Quite a paradox, and an experience I utterly enjoyed.

Captivating and entirely unique. Tomasso nails it, hook, line and sinker.

Set in the days of Pirates, Pillaging and Plundering, Tomasso's Treasure Island adds a modern Zombified twist to a classic tale and what a great job he did combining these two popular genre's.

Being a Novella, Treasure Island is a quick read and much of the book sets the stage for the beginning of what could be an all-out Zombie apocalypse. Without the benefit of modern communication technology, the Pirate Protagonists' have no idea what awaits them when it's time to dock. All they can do is fight their way through hoards of the walking dead, try to get back on their ship and sail to England in hopes that the virus hasn't spread there... little do they know...!

This was an easy read and a great, quick fix for zombie fans like me. Fans of Phillip Tomasso's books will notice a much different writing style as compared to his other books, Including the Vaccination series. This isn't a bad thing as I thoroughly enjoyed the story, style and genre mash up. Tomasso's writing style is maturing and I am looking forward to picking up his next novel.

The idea is so much fun and has a lot of potential but the short length of the book makes it feel like everything took place in a day or so.

I felt like seeing the side characters struggle with what zombies are in their own chapters was unnecessary and made the story a lot less suspenseful or mysterious because we already knew what was waiting for them and then simply had to view them respond the same confused way to everything.

It was hard to feel for the characters when they didn't have that many pleasant moments around each other even before they noticed their new zombie problem.

Jim barely reacts to some of the deaths and Silver often seemed very serious and straight faced when I perceived him to be very different in the original book but it is interesting to see someone else's interpretation of that.

Regardless of these points, I really love this idea and that it was written and shared. I've wanted to see a spooky version of Treasure Island for a while and it was really fun to see the characters run around and work together when they did. I think this would've made a really exciting series.

Something is rotting in England and it is not Black Death or plague. Gnashing teeth and swashbuckling swordsman, I was sold at the get go. Join all your favorites -Trelawney, Benjamin Gunn, Captain Smollett, and Long John Silver on this classic retelling of the adventures of the Hispaniola into a world where Zombies meet pirates. Treasure Island is a very fun read. I found it engrossing so much so I lost track of time reading it. An unlikely hero in the end! Overall, this is a vibrant and intense story from beginning to end. Phillip Tomasso crafted a brilliant twist on the classic Treasure Island story. This story, along with his trilogy, place him as a true master of the zombie genre.

This is a great story I know young adults and adults alike will love. The tale is told of pirates who encounter zombies. The story tells the tale from shipboard with the pirates and from a small town where loved ones of the shipmated live. Unfortunately neither group is immune when it comes to zombies. I found this to be a great adventure and a fun read.

Phillip Tomasso puts a fun twist to the traditional story of Treasure Island. I have never read Treasure Island, but I can honestly say I like this version better. Why? Because it has zombies! Can you see Long John Silver fighting zombies? Well, in this book he does, and he does it well.
