I’ve really enjoyed several books from Warren Wiersbe’s “Bible Study Series.” The things that draw me into these books is how the author includes small segments from his commentary, along with thoughtful questions and some suggestions for prayer and further growth in each lesson. However, I thought this edition was lacking. Don’t get me wrong, I still loved how all the different elements of the series fit into the book, but, it didn’t last long enough for me! The lessons didn’t cover all the Psalms. Instead, a selection of Psalms were grouped into clusters and covered in one lesson. The whole book itself was covered in 12 lessons. Though I enjoyed the Psalms that were covered, I was a little disappointed that the study would skip 20 or 30 psalms and jump to the next grouping. I personally wished the Bible Study would have covered the whole book of Psalms, or, split it up into multiple books. I used this study as I was reading through the Psalms and though I didn’t use it everyday (because of the large gap between chapters), I did enjoy and learn from it. One of the things I liked the most was the suggestions for further growth at the end of each lesson. They weren’t always something you “tried to achieve” in a spiritual way, sometimes, the suggestions were very practical. One of my favorites was from lesson nine, which encouraged you to write your own psalm based on personal experiences that caused you to praise the Lord for an answer to prayer, and/or, His faithfulness in hard times. There was also one that focused on worship and encouraged you to visit a church that had a different style of musical worship than yours and find things to appreciate about the differences you noticed. I liked the practicality of it! All in all, it was a good study, just not very lengthy.

An Excellent Bible Study
This Bible study covers all four books of Psalms, however it does not cover all 150 chapters. It basically gives an detailed study of a few chapters in each book. It is well worth doing this study as it will wet your appetite for getting even deeper into the book of Psalms.

Doesn’t cover all the Psalms but breaks some down in a few groups. It was interesting.
