I know that this book was to cover the whole of the Canary Islands and I should've been prepared for a short read but the information contained within felt like a real skim over everything, had I bought this I'd have been really disappointed (it was covered with Amazon prime reads) as most of the information could've been found easily online. Normally I'm a huge advocate for lonely planet but this one felt severely lacking.

The author and publisher do a good job. The problem with these types of guidebooks is that they attempt to be objective which sounds great, except if the place they are writing about really doesn't have much to do or see. Instead of saying that, they do a good job of writing about tons of things you could do or see on the Canary Islands, that are essentially super boring and not worth visiting. They should intro the book and say, these islands are OK.

We are planning one week escape trip to Lanzarote so I reached out to this book. I am a big fan of Lonely Planet and I have always found all information needed in here. This one was bit unsalty but informative so it's okay. 4*

Seems pretty good, although I've not been there yet! Covers a lot of things without a huge amount of detail, though. Useful in choosing a place to stay, as I've never been before.

It gave some pretty good insight of what to do and where to go, what to expect etc.

Loving this for an forthcoming trip, made me choose excursions etc more wisely. Good read. The latest version I am changing my rating because it doesn't even mention one of my favorite things in Lanzarote Jameos del Agua attraction. Makes me not want to "trust" the guide. I kept thinking it was a different island, as Lanzarote would be the island I would return to, thanks to César Manrique, a Lanzarote-born artist, architect, and activist, is the figure largely credited with shaping the island's unique character, including the absence of billboards. Jameos del Agua was one of his most outstanding attractions: Unique volcanic tunnel & caverns featuring an underground concert hall, restaurant & salt lake. So in my view? Find another guide, lonely planet screwed up on this one.

The guide covers all the Canary Islands, which means that the information is very condensed and it doesn't cover anything in detail. What is worse, even the information that is in the guide is often wrong or outdated - we were burned by wrong opening times and a couple of places recommended in the guide did not exist anymore.

While Lonely Planet's Tenerife guide is absolutely fantastic, this one is missing some of the main tourist attractions. I found much more info on the web then in this book and couldn't find some basic sights in the book. Not recommended.
