A: Hello?
D: Good morning! This is David.
A: David! So great to hear from you.
D: Hey, I have a project I want you to be a part of. I'm going to publish a book that features 15 or so experts like yourself discussing their areas of expertise.
A: That sounds fantastic. Like dollar dollar bills rolling in, y'all. *laughs*
D: *laughs* Yeah. Exactly. Let's sell some seminar tickets, right?
A: Right. But how are you going to market this book?
D: It will be called "Discover Your Inner Strength." That's a theme so general you all can make your seminars and book fit under its umbrella.
A: Great idea!
D: Thanks. Now, it will be in an interview format, so I'll just be lobbing softballs at you all day, allowing you to sell your seminars and books the whole time, essentially.
A: Awesome.
D: Despite the fact that we are all supposedly super-successful, we have no money for professional editing or publishing. There will be a few design issues, dozens of style mistakes, and hundreds of typos.
A: That's fine. Our suckers--er, customers--won't notice. They'll be too busy slurping up our "advice."
D: *laughs* That's what I was hoping. I mean there will be periods missing. How basic is that? *laughs* And double periods other places! How lazy can I be typing this up and still sell some books, is what I want to see. *laughs*
A: Come on.
D: Seriously. You know the most important part, where we sell your books and seminars, we're going to even forget to add the ".com" for one of you. It'll just say "www.BrianTracy" and that's it!
A: *laughs*
D: *laughs*
A: But will it sell well? We in this business be all about da cash, yo!
D: It'll have loads of legitimacy. Wanna know who I got to be in the book? I got Stephen Covey--the 7 Habits guy. And you know The One Minute Manager guy?
A: The one that gets crazier every year?
D: Yeah. He's in the book, too.
A: Awesome. Who else?
D: Well, we have a misogynist, a right-wing radical militarist who never served himself, and a veritable buffet of Christian demagoguery.
A: Sounds good, sounds good. Any crazy ideas like that our cells evolved over billions of years and somehow gained wisdom through that process, and so our life's purpose can be found inside our cells?
D: Uh............. YES!
A: Sweet.
D: So you in?
A: I'll answer with a sound effect: cha-ching!
D: *laughs* Great!
