I just tried to read Wear it Well by Alex Bornstein. No thanks. Kate Spade New York is much more my style. Not only are her books always beautiful, full of strong colors and well-designed, but the way Kate Spade New York encourages women to be themselves and forget the formula speaks to me, makes me happy. And bold. The book begins with these perfect words:
Don't put anything in your closet that you don't love. Period. It's a simple trick that makes getting dressed and expressing who you are through clothes more fun and a whole lot easier.

Style is a feeling. Not a bunch of rules.

I love this Fran Lebowitz quote, too. It's in white letters on a hot pink page. I told you - Kate Spade makes gorgeous books. "All style is personal. That's what distinguishes it from fashion."

And this gem, "If you love something, wear it all the time."

Gotta go... I'm off to purchase this book.

You know those weeks where you have a million things going and just need a book filled with eye candy to let your brain float?

Well, this was that week and this is that book!

Popping with bright colors and positive messaging, the Kate Spade aesthetic of cute and quirky classics permeates this primer on how to do you, fashion-wise. Surprisingly (and commendably), overt product placement is limited and there are some helpful suggestions on putting together a wardrobe that reflects your personal lifestyle.

Of course, it helps if your vibe is young urban professional with standing brunch dates, robust discretionary income and a need for the perfect crossbody to take with you to the dog park.

Not throwing shade (or shades 🕶️), mind you! The life hacks are mostly scale-able to a variety of price points, but privilege must be checked: recommending tailoring to ensure the perfect fit for your cigarette pants is, um, aspirational for many.

This may be So You if:
- you are a faithful InStyle follower
- you know a puffer from a peacoat
- you have an entire closet shelf devoted to your Kate Spade purses (no? just me?)

The name of Kate Spade is more than synonymous with style. The designer based in New York is definitely one of the icons of must-wear fashions. Now in the book KATE SPADE NEW YORK IT’S SO YOU, we get to read all about what the person can do to feel and look one’s best. It covers the bases for everything fashion, from formal wear to casual wear.
If there was one criticism of the book, it would be the images in the book, and there are well over one hundred of them are just drawings. I am sure many who do read the book would likely have preferred actual photos with models. Of course the illustrated images are all there, but inside the pages of the book they do not spring from the page like one would have seen with real models with the Kate Spade label.
The copy inside the book is credited to several women who offer opinions of what style is all about. In one if the sections is “The trying-it-out test drive.” It goes for all items of apparel such as shirts when it is advised “check that the hem isn’t significantly shorter in the front than the back.” In terms of blazers, “make sure you can cross your arms comfortably.” Then with shoes, “walk more than just a few steps in them. Take a lap—and with the thickest socks/tights you plan on wearing with them, if applicable.”
A lot of the book is also fashion philosophy 101 type sentiments, where such comments as “just put it on and go, dress your mood not your age, the beauty you see in anything is a reflection of the beauty in you, if you love something wear it all the time, create a mood to carry you throughout the day, and easy is sexy sloppy never is,” are just a few of the mantra-type comments that should assist any woman any age in their fashion conquests.
The book is basic, but packed with style suggestions to help you make it through the fashions ages and stages of your life.

Perfect for any fashion girlie, don’t hestitate. You need this.

I am a Kate Spade lover, and this book made me fall in love even more if that’s even possible. I was expecting it to make me want to shop Kate Spade immediately- but it made me revisit my own wardrobe instead! I love how this book reignited my style journey, and I highly recommend it

A quick read about making style personal. I liked how the emphasis was not on buying more, but on using what you already have in new combinations.
