Took a couple of chapters to get into the book. I honestly hated both the hero and the heroine's names. Adam was too adorable and his storyline had me crying, very hard. Will continue to read more from the author.
I am giving this 3.5 stars but only for Ernst "Ghost" Zimmerman. His character regardless of being Sexy and Handsome as shit, but because for his character of wanting the women that he fell in love trust him and believe in what he wants was a true relationship not a one night stand. She didn't want to trust him or what he was wanting from what they have with each other. She kept pulling away from him and not in a good way. He wanted more , he wanted happiness with her, he wanted to have a family with her. I truly really want to enjoy this book on his persepcetive but Dayum Koali, was getting on my last never on "He is going to hurt me"; "He is going to be disappointed in me"; blah, blah, blah. ENOUGH! Still enjoy Ms. Burke Books though. I just couldn't with this one.
The books in the series are beginning to be repetitive, love story-wise. White Alpha-male gets himself a Black Jane, ship goes through something crazy, then they have a happily ever after. Same ol' same ol'. The first book was, without doubt, my favorite.
This book was Ridiculous! Kacy was weak. I get it to a point with the abuse from her ex. That's not what makes her weak it how she deals with Ernst. He just kissed her and all was forgiven. He basically Accused her of having something going on with Jacob When she didn't. He never apologized for it. He said I made a mistake. This is the fourth book in this series and the common theirs that the men are insecure and the women are annoying.
Good book in a good series. This book for me emotional. Adam was such a lovable bit and when he died I cried. The book touched on issues of physical violence against women, child abandonment and such. The author tried her best to treat the issue with sensitivity. All in all a good solid read and deserved a 4 1/2.
This series keeps getting better and better even though Lacy and Ernst started to get on my nerves this book kept my interest . I would definitely recommend this book.
Maybe it's me, but, the other books in the series seemed to be shorter reads and that was what I was expecting, however, this is the length of a normal book. I don't think I ever figured out who Greeley was. It wasn't the hero or the heroine's name. This book is about Ernst and Koali. There names are were close to prompting me to start another shelf for characters with horrible names, but I resisted. I kept thinking Ernest and Koala (as in the bear). Her middle name is Cynemon, which is the spice part of the book, but she is called Kacy, just all over the place. His name is Ernst, but he is called Ghost by the team. He is German by heritage and the story is nicely peppered with German phrases. Under the story is her past history with an abusive relationship that comes back to haunt them. Of course, it ends in the typical way. There is another smaller side story about an orphan boy named Adam. Being a nurse I would have liked a storyline that was a little more believable for him. Overall, it's about as good as the rest of the series, just longer and I found myself wanting to finish quickly, just because the others ended so quickly. TTFN-Sandy
Ok, I'm still giving this book a 4 even though the entire series was starting to wind down for me a feel a bit repetitive. The H/H are really great together and their relationship is very well developed. There is also one scene in particular which for me is the most emotional moment in any of the books in the series. So do I recommend this book, yes, absolutely, but I would also recommend taking a breather before reading it if you have read the first few books in the series. The pattern and progress of the relationship and story is getting way too easy to guess at this point, so I would definitely recommend spacing things out while reading the series instead of reading them back-to-back-to-back as I have.
At first I thought this was the soulless, dialogue-stunted, flat character filled non-story that describes Harrier & Lex’s entry in the Megladon series, but Ghost & Kacy’s story turned into a sweet tale. A bit Dickensian in the middle—think Oliver twist, creepy when Ghost began showing Kirby-like traits, and too coincidental when it turns out Kacy knows Dez, but still very sweet through to the end. I also call the title (Greeley’s Spyce) into question because spicy Kacy doesn’t show up until the end. Landi was more of a spitfire than her.
Nonetheless it was far more good than problematic. I think this one might have edge out Connelly’s Flame for my favorite in the series.
A very quick read. This book had very emotional elements. I enjoyed most of the characters. The antagonist was a revolting bully. I could see the challenge Kacy and Ernst had to face. It was nice to see interaction from previous characters. I thought the breaks between chapters were unnatural. For instance, the end of one chapter would be a conversation over dinner or heated moments, then that moment or conversation would not be finishhed until the beginning paragraph of the next chapter. There were lots of editing issues, just like in the other books. Oh, and Greely is Ernst's middle name. Someone stated they could not figure out the title's relationship to the book.
I am not one to give away any spoilers but you can read other posts for that. Mainly it was not the a bad read but the heroine was a bit schizophrenic which got real old real fast but I guess in light of what she had gone through made sense. I just thought the character could have been for articulate with her feelings and emotions. Poor Ernst spent much of his time trying to pull things our of her which was like pulling hens teeth!
Loved this one. Kacy and Ernst what an emotional roller coaster from beginning to end. They fit so well together it was like kismet. Adam really stole the show. It was sad to read about what happened to him. I imagined that playing out differently. I had a feeling Dez would pop up in this book from Kacy's car. That was a nice surprise. Can't wait to read about which team member will fall next.
If it were left up to Kacey, they would not have a relationship. She used her past to hinder her from a loving relationship. She may have doubted her ability to be loved by someone but Ernst fought hard to keep her in his life, even after she pushed him away several times. He knew that she was who was destined to be in his life forever. He felt that soul stirring connection when they met.
I wished the author would have uncovered who her parents were and why she was left at an orphanage. Kacey had so much self esteem issues to work out on her own due to her being an abuse survivor and an orphan. Ernst recognized that early on and wanted her to get it out of her system so they could move forward in their relationship. I was shocked to read which one asked the other to marry them. An epilogue would have been nice in this story. I felt it ended too abruptly.
It was so hard to read about her relationship with Adam, the only person whom she felt that she could love. They had so much in common. He was so young and it was difficult to read of his illness and dying. I could have seen Kacey and Ernst married and adopting him if he were not ill.
This was a sweet easy romance story to read. It accurately depicted the issues abuse survivors have to work through in their daily lives.
