This is by far my favorite Disney book. Just like most other Disney tales, there are many versions of this book, but I find the Disney version to be my favorite of all. I would recommend this book to young readers who are interested in Princesses, castles, etc. Young readers who are girls would most likely like this type of book! This would also be a great book to read aloud.

This is a neat series that very closely follows the Disney movies. And at first thought, I would probably gripe, Disney movie, blah blah blah. But really Disney was quite good at retelling fairy tales and adding details. Also, Sleeping Beauty is my favorite of the princess movies. Her voice is gorgeous and real.

First off, I should say that I'm biased against the Disney-ing of fairy tales, though I recognize it to be fairly inescapable due to the kiddos. This was the 5.5 year-old's first school library pick for the year. I'm not sure what the other options were, as she's usually not a princess/Disney kinda girl. Sleeping B is the typical small waisted, buxom Disney princess. The prince is dashing. Love ensues with very little trauma, aside from the easily defeated Maleficent. It did, however, inspire me to read the entire gory Briar Rose fairy tale from the Iona and Peter Opie collection, so I guess there's that.
