A must read for any psychotherapist in training, especially TA. Widdowson beautifully summarizes the human (and therapist) condition with the following quote from the book:
,,The realization that there is no predetermined or inherent meaning in life or about life is a common source of suffering for of a clients. Meaning cannot be given or created—it is something each individual must discover for themselves. One of the tasks of a psychotherapist may precisely be to help clients find their own meaning and purpose, just as we did when we chose our vocation of healing and serving others".
