Hannah Driscoll is part of a gang called the Lip Gloss Girls. The gang spends most of their spare time together - or baiting the rival gang the Hell Cats. The two gangs constantly square up to each other and vie for which gang can fight the best - whether it be at school, in the park or on the train. Hannah feels safe and comfortable within the gang - until she is accused of betraying the Lip Gloss Girls. All of a sudden Hannah is made to feel what it is like to be cast out and surrounded by enemies...
This book was so good! It is about two girl gangs; The Lip Gloss Girls, who, given the title are pretty and plastic so to speak, and the Hell Cats, which also kind of gives the affect that they are horrible. But when LGGs (Lip Gloss girl) shares her most unknown secret with her 'best friend' and people find out what it was, she blames Hannah. And she makes her life a misery! So, Hannah is trying to claim her innocence, but no one will have, so she is soon dis-owned by the LGGs. At one point she was close to committing suicide. So, her lowest turned out to be her highest. She wanted revenge. But then, the Hell Cats want a fight. Sh takes on all four girls. Then, head held highs, walks through school. The Hell Cats respected her. Soon enough, she was one of them. She found out they were nice and kind, all accept the Leader. Then, a LGGs house is set on fire, and who other to lame then the Hell Cats. But it wasn't them, they knew who it was but did not want to be a grass. So they hide it. They take the blame. Then Hannah and Wizzie (The Leader) come across them and Hannah rats, and thy go on bail so thier all safe, and the gang-thing is stopped.
It was a very good book, I finished it within a day! <33

Worse Than Boys, written by Catherine Macphail is one of my all time favorite books. I first read it when I was in primary school and have loved it and remember it ever since. I think this book is amazing, its it such an easy book to read for anyone. Through out the whole story you are captured and are wondering whats next? The plot, the characters and all the different twists within the story line really pull this book together. One of my favorite things about this book is how it can relate to many teenage girls and what its like too fell abandoned by your friends, also on how you may even make friends with people you never thought you would. My favorite scene in this book is when the two main groups 'the lip gloss girls' and 'the hell cats' are fighting and realize they are being used as entertainment by the boys and suddenly join together to chase after the boys. I would strongly recommend this book for 10+ , I think it is a really good book especially for those girls just going into high school.
I read this a very long time ago. There was something about the way it was written, the depth and clarity that was poured into this book that made it so intriguing and genuinely interesting to read. The character development of all the characters was realistic and nicely paced. And the plot was heartwarming and gritty at the same time. It's one of the most memorable books I ever read, and despite the synopsis not seeming particularly eye-catching (I borrowed it from the library originally because the books I wanted were unavailable) , it really is a wonderful read.
Amazing, just amazing. I’m a huge fan of Cathy Driscoll , with quite a few of her books coming into the top 20 of all time for me. While it was a bit all over the place, that’s what I like so much about Cathy’s work. While not much is over the top or unrealistic, it has a way of keeping you entertained at all times. I read this in under 12 hours because of how gripping it was, and I love the story so much.
I seemed to speed through this book, actually read it in a day. I enjoyed it, reading the struggles of friendships and of honesty was interesting. I could personally relate to Hannah inplaces and really thought the author captured the fights well. handling the suicide moments was done carefully and with thoughtful respect. As was Wizzies self-harming. I'm pleased the book didn't get too many boys involved. I will be recommending this to the Mum's of teens I know, maybe it could open their eyes to some teenage girls issues.
This book is amazing it has a really slow start but then when it does eventually pick up (at about 1 or 2 chapters in) you can't put it down. Keeps you engaged and wants you to read on to find out more and im soo glad i did. I would really love to read another book like it.
its rather rough, stupid however somehow intriguing there should be a sequel at least 2 more books . thats enough dont really care about hannah driscoll or watever she calls herself life
