Title translated: The journey through the wheel of the year
I ordered this book at amazon out of a sudden whim because I liked the cover and I got a real treasure! In this book the eight feasts of the year are described very detailed and with many suggestions. It´s divided into two parts: in the first part the author informs about the various levels of the year - as a symbol for the four cardinal points and five elements (inclusive the middle) - as a reflection of the year with four seasons and eight feasts - as a symbol for the phases of life of man - as home of the twelve signs of the zodiac - analogies and correspondences with minerals, plants and animals - as interpretation of different aspects of the goddess - as a frame for breathing and therapeutic excercises, dances and imaginary journeys. Furthermore there are tips how to create a special place for your daily meditation and how to organize a seasonal celebration. In the second part the eight feasts (Brigid to Yule) are described more detailed and with many color pictures. To every celebration we learn something about the season, astrological view, human development, goddesses and myths. Also described are everyday rituals to get in touch with the respective season, breathing exercises, dances, imaginary journeys and all analogies like energy, time, places, colors, minerals, animals, trees, plants, food and drink, scents and music appropriate for a certain celebration. At the end of each chapter the author shows an example for a celebration. Even if you don´t believe in or like goddesses you can benefit from this book. Just going into the energy of the seasons with an open and conscious mind helps to a deeper understanding for the rhythm of nature (at least in my experience). The author has put her whole experience as a psychotherapist and astrologer this remarkable and very recommendable book.
