Caillou is getting older and his parents are giving him different foods to eat. He is afraid to try some of them and his appetite is not good. Mommy asks him to go shopping with her and he gets to pick out some food he likes. They talk about how he didn't like some things when he was younger, but does now. He helps prepare soup with the vegetables they bought and is not afraid to try them. Once again the illustrations are well done and add to the story. It is hard to get young children to try new things. It is good to get them involved so they are eager to try instead of forcing, yelling etc. This is a children's story that also has a message for parents. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.
Toddler and children go through phases with their eating habits. One day they love broccoli and the next day they won't touch any food that is green. It can be a headache for parents trying to get their kids to have a well rounded and healthy pallet. Caillou Tries New Food is a fun book for kids on this exact subject. My son loves the Caillou series and this book was no different. He enjoyed reading this book with me and us having conversations about why we eat different types of foods. And the book offers a great suggestion for parents of picky eaters - get them in the kitchen cooking with you and let them pick out some foods at the grocery store. It's a fun and interactive book to read with your kids and now my son wants to try to make the soup Cailllou made with his mom!!! 4+ stars!
My thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Отново интересен подход към понякога труден момент в отглеждането - опитването на нови храни и храненето като цяло. Децата лесно се идентифицират с Каю и след няколко прочитания са готови и те да опитат нови неща по примера му.
Caillou’s mother takes him on an adventure to the grocery store and gives him his very own bag to shop with. She allows him to pick the vegetables that will go in the soup that he helps her prepare.
This would be a good book to encourage children to help with picking out vegetables and preparing. From what I have learned, with working with children, is modeling the behavior you want. For instance, if you want your children to eat vegetables, they need to see you eating them too and will be more likely to eat them.
A helpful new title in the Healthy Toddler series about teaching picky eaters to consider new foods. Colorful illustrations and an easy text make this a joy for toddlers and parents. 5/5
Grateful to NetGalley and Chouette Publishing for the ARC. Opinions are mine.

This book given to me by NetGalley and Chouette Publishing in exchange for my honest review.
Caillou is asserting his independence and refusing to eat any foods he says he doesn't like. Mommy tries an ingenious solution. Opening Caillou up to the idea of tasting before rejecting a new food.
Vibrant graphics and a sweet character brings this story to life. Engaging young readers to identify with the character and the story.
I gave "Caillou Tries New Foods" a 4.75 out of a total of 5 stars.
Great for fans of the Caillou series! When Caillou's appetite is off, his mom takes him to the store to shop for the ingredients he wants so he can help prepare the meal. She is able to remind him of how his tastes have changed while they shop. I like the underlying message here very much and appreciate the reinforcement of the fact that reluctant eaters who help cook are often more invested in eating. The illustrations are bright and colorful and will appeal to preschool age children.

New foods are always hard to cope with, especially if you are a litle kid and no one understand that you may be happy for the rest of your baby years eating one and only type of food. In the typical-Caillou illustrations, it helps parents and children together to discover the pleasures of new foods and understand how you can make them look appealing and adventurous enough to be added to the baby's plate. A funny and colour way approach to baby foods.

Thanks for an ARC to enjoy with my grandson and give my opinion.
I have a two year old grandson and we read this together. The illustrations were enough to capture his attention and hold it as I read a story about a small boy having problems eating food. To circumvent the problem his mother takes him to the grocery store so that he can help buy food to make a soup. Then at home Caillou helps his mother prepare the soup. It was a short book and entranced my grandson until it was finished. I'd give it five stars for his entertainment!
Unlike all the other books I’ve read in this series, this one has an agenda. It doesn’t want your kid to try new foods, it wants them to try new healthy foods. There’s even tips for how to accomplish this, including having Caillou accompany mom to the grocery store and helping with the cooking. If only it was really that easy. . .
Caillou is a popular TV show for young children for those who aren't aware, and most children adore his character. But in this story, Caillou is a reluctant eater of new things! He won't try new foods because .......new! His mommy is one smart cookie! She allows him to choose and help prepare foods into a special soup. As a speech language pathologist who works with young children with food aversions and preferences, this book could be helpful to parents whose children are reluctant eaters. The text is typically written for a book based on TV characters, but does have a message. The artwork for the book is amazing. I would recommend this as a four star book. Thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher for a pre-publication ebook in exchange for an honest review.
Is this book for children, or adults? Caillou is being a picky eater, and so mom lets Caillou help choose vegetables at the store and cook. It’s a good book if that is something a parent wants to try with his or her own child.
Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this for an honest review.
So, to be honest, this wasn't for me (even though I still read it) but for a friend's child. He loved it! And I can assure you that parents can enjoy the story too! It's short it has a message, you will love it!
Our two boys absolutely adore Caillou. From the shows in which plays on TV, to their app on their tablet to YouTube videos. They know the character’s name and theme song. This book captured our boy’s undivided attention and it is a great read right before bed or just about any other time. This book has helped our oldest who is 4, want to and be willing to try a variety of new foods so that he can be like Caillou. This book makes a GREAT mom + son time, bedtime story time and so much more! We will purchase more Caillou books and continue to watch the show!!
This book is a great choice for parents and young children alike. The vibrant colours and illustrations will surely capture the interest of young children and encourage them to explore the topic of trying new foods. It will also encourage them to enjoy reading while learning something new at the same time. Young children will be able to self-identify with Caillou as many young children often find trying new foods to be intimidating and difficult. This book sets a good example for young children as well as providing parents with ideas of how to get their children to try new foods. *I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review*
Cailou learns to try new food when he gets to be part of the process by helping to pick out food and cook it with his mother. I thought this was a cute little book that could be great at helping motivating little ones to want to be more involved in picking out foods and trying new ones.
I received this ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
Simple story about teaching children the importance of vegetables and trying new foods. Perfect for encouraging fussy eaters to try new foods and also reminding parents to cook food with their children. Definitely recommend!
This is a read-aloud for a young and fussy eater or for parents who do not want to find themselves with one! Caillou's mom finds a good way to encourage Caillou to eat a healthy dinner. Children who know Caillou from other books or from TV will enjoy this story.
I really liked this book and thought it was a great book for parents with picky eaters. Caillou does not like the food Mommy is making. So Mom decides to take him on a shopping trip with her and he can pick out the foods he likes. While getting cheese Mommy reminds him he did not like cheese before. The story goes on and Caillou helps Mommy prepare the vegetables and make the soup with the things Caillou picked at the store. Illustrations are vivid and bright as with all Caillou shows and books. I recommend this book for 2-5 yr. olds. I received this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
