Walter Kempowski was a German writer. He was known for his series of novels called German Chronicle ("Deutsche Chronik") and the monumental Echolot ("Sonar"), a collage of autobiographical reports, letters and other documents by contemporary witnesses of the Second World War.
it's not really meant for children although it looks like a kids book. it's very slim book with large printing and pictures. it's a bit sad and sometimes a bit confusing. it's tiny tiny vignettes of mini moments with a teacher ... little bits of wisdom. some of the stories are pretty bizarre, but overall it's very touching.
