In the original radio series, Satan is fed up "I'm bored with skiing across the lake of fire with a nun lashed to each foot." Maybe two new guests will set him some fresh challenges. And can Satan convince the Professor that all humans are corruptible? Even the Professor's wife. The Professor meets one of his heroes, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Thomas starts to tunnel his way out yet Satan's starting to feel self-conscious about his appearance... Gary leads a demon rebellion against the Prince of "We want staff feedback sessions, more flexible rostering and wider access to nuns and virgins". Its no wonder Satan feels he's not needed any more - so begs ot be let back into Heaven.

This is such a well-done show. The audio format works so well and their humor is sharp. Satan shows us to value humanity by showing us exactly how cruel we are capable of being. Wittiest show ever.

I absolutely loved this audio production, starring Andy Hamilton as Satan. Hilarious - so much that I'm sure people thought I was bonkers when I was laughing out loud while driving or on my daily walk - and intriguing both. Smartly written, and while there are a lot of references to contemporary pop UK culture and figures I didn't understand, I still found it witty as all heck. Err, as all hell, as Satan might say. Highly recommended, but you want a good sense of humor as it skewers all sorts of concepts and belief systems.

Complete series on Audible.

Andy Hamilton plays Satan with style - sarcastic, perverted and charismatic.

Some of the jokes haven't aged well, being based on real time people or events... and memory fading as to who/ what they are.

But it's still a fun way to enjoy Hell. 8/10

Scoring: 0 bad; 1-3 poor; 4-6 average; 7-9 good; 10 excellent.

One of the few Radio 4 comedy series that makes me laugh from start to finish. Brilliantly funny and insightful.

This is a bit of a tough one to rate objectively. Let me start by saying that the actors and the production values are first rate. It was the subject matter that eventually turned me off of this series. Please do not misunderstand me, if you enjoy horror movies or intense series like Game of Thrones, you may very well find plenty to like here. However, those genres do not rock my boat and ultimately, that led to my poor review of this broadcast.

Initially, the storyline of the troubles besetting the Prince of Darkness and his right hand demon Gary carried a lot of promise. It is just that the episodes featured lots of pain and suffering, in a humorous way, but after listening to this for a while I found it becoming distasteful to my personal sensibilities. I persevered to the end of the first season, but was actually looking forward to it ending. Again, I want to be clear that this is not a judgement, just a recommendation that if you are sensitive to the suffering of others, I would avoid this program.

Old Harry's Game is a workplace comedy, with the small detail that the workplace of choice is Hell. Naturally this gives rise to joking and philosophizing about God, good and evil, and the nature of Man. With puns. And a lot of corporal punishment to be suffered by one of the main characters. Also jokes about several prominent historical figures (I for one loved the fate of Hemingway), and Jeffrey Archer.

It's a fun romp, and you'll come out having a lot of sympathy for the devil. I was usually already smiling by the time Andy Hamilton was announced "assss Sssssatan".

This is just so funny!!!
I haven't laughed so much in ages but some of the jokes were year 2000 specific so if you weren't up to date with the news of the time you may not get one or two. However, still plenty to laugh at :-)
