In honor of the 350th anniversary of the death of Rembrandt, one of the greatest painters in history, I read this excellent book. Schwartz really digs deeply into the persons and events which influenced Rembrandt.

The many color plates of his paintings are really quite well done. This book helped me to look more closely into the work of a great artist.
