In this updated version of her innovative book, author Valerie J. Janesick extends her dance and yoga metaphors to strengthen her argument that tapping into one's artistic side ― the side that is more creative and less inhibited ― is fundamental to realizing one's potential as a qualitative researcher. This Third Edition provides a series of exercises that are both imaginative and immensely practical in helping students to see the artistic side of research.
What can I say? I had to read this for a dissertation prep class. It is actually a great book to get your mind into a quiet space and think about the importance of observation and truly paying attention when taking on qualitative studies. I actually enjoyed some of the exercises and journal activities suggested and did many of them. It helped me really know where I wanted to go with my own work. > Actually, if you need some breathing and calming to get you through this horrendous process, this may be just the book.
This is such a cool textbook. I loved practicing the exercises; it helped me become much better at observing others. I enjoyed reading and practicing qualitative journaling and interviewing. This is a great read.
