A sweet story with wonderfully detailed illustrations, about a dog who can only seem to behave while on a boat. Will make you want to visit the Vineyard.

A heartwarming story of a black dog and an old sea captain. The dog is dropped off to him on a stormy night by a friend. He tells the sea captain to watch the dog for the night and take him to the pound tomorrow if he's too much trouble. The sea captain doesn't take the dog to the pound but does find out what trouble he causes aroound the house: chewing on boots, sails, "piddling" on the carpet when scared! It isn't until the dog goes with the captain on his boat (to keep the dog from destroying the house) that the captain realizes the dog is a sea dog!

Purchased this book for my fancy pants niece and one for our own shelves from The Black Dog Store. I like the story, but may be a bit much for younger ones. My furry son, Bailey LOVED IT!
