This is a collection of 12 short crime stories. I enjoyed Introducing Susan Dare (by Mignon Eberhart), The Murder Machine (by Hugh Pentecost), The Bearded Lady (by Ross MacDonald), Storm (by Ed McBain) and Booktaker (by Bill Pronzini).
I found Nightmare (by Cornell Woolrich) quite creepy and an unusual story. Imagine waking up after a dream to find evidence that it might have been real!
I thought the best story was Don't Look Now by Daphne Du Maurier which is a tale of psychic events in Venice. I could not put the book down until I had finished this one. It really does get you thinking for a while.
