The Scorpion's Sting
With all my degrees and knowledge, how could I have lived with my head in the sand for so long? I'm thinking of nicknaming myself 'Ostrich'... head in the sand, backside flopping around in the air, going around in circles, tripping over my own long legs and awkward feet, never getting anywhere at all. It certainly seems an appropriate label, especially given the latest mess I'm now working my way through. Dr. Magdalena LaSige, a thirty-three-year-old criminal archepsychologist, throws herself headfirst into finding a kidnapped Carmelite nun the sister of her former professor, the handsome and wealthy Dr. Peter Janus. She is given ancient pictures and symbols sent from the kidnappers, clues in an archetypal trail of deceit. The Pyramids of Giza, DNA codes, constellations, medicine, money these symbols, stories, and legends all combine to challenge everything Magdalena has taken for granted as truth. And the truth seems to be the last thing Dr. Janus wants to discuss. What is his connection with the pharmaceutical companies he consults for, and how does that play into the kidnapping? Is the 'scorpion's sting' a medical project or something much more sinister? Painfully aware of her limitations, Magdalena uncovers religious, medical, and governmental lies while racing against time. Will she solve the mystery, or will the truth behind the deceptions leave Magdalena paralyzed by the scorpion's sting?

WOW...I feel that there are no words to accurately describe this book, or give it the credit it so richly deserves. It is astounding! Dan Brown has NOTHING on J.D. Masterson. Get ready to have many of your belief systems rocked, if not shattered beyond repair. You will lay awake at night rethinking EVERYTHING.

Like Rachel Carson's "Silent Spring," J.D. Masterson's first novel is a call to action!
The Scorpion’s Sting is a brilliant tour de force, a must read!
This stunning page-turner engaged and spoke to so many parts of me I am amazed, and blown away. It’s a suspense-filled mystery that took me on a roller coaster ride, challenging to the core my beliefs, thoughts, perspectives and admittedly calls into question my rather sheepish laxity and propensity to leave the tough battles for someone else to fight.
I appreciate Mags—the outspoken heroine—who questions everything and thinks for herself. She carefully follows every clue, leaving no stone unturned, courageously takes the road less traveled, and musters the inner strength to confront difficult and dangerous situations in her quest for the truth, ultimately to save lives!
Like Rachel Carson’s “Silent Spring,” J.D. Masterson’s powerful first novel is a call to action! It is a cry from the deepest depths of an awakened human, whose eyes and heart are wide open, urging us to wake up, pay attention, heed the warning signs, listen to and validate our feelings, paying close attention to learning to read and interpret the signs and messages within our bodies, in nature, and in the world around us. And especially calls us to heed the cries of others in pain and suffering.
I am inspired by Mags to courageously and consciously take my life to the next level, to step up to the plate and help get the word out about HPV (human papilloma virus) and the HPV vaccine, instead of waiting around for someone else to do this—I Say YES, Mags, the Time IS Now and I sign on to help!
Will you join me before there is a need for another Requiem Mass to honor the dead that we could not save because we got stuck in denial and fear?

For a Dan Brown copycat, this was not a bad vacation read. It gets too wordy at times and clearly is a polemic with respect to the author's activism against vaccination. It will certainly fire conspiracy theorists on many fronts.

it's Fucking amazing, please excuse the cursing yet I am simply not verbose enough to describe how entertaining and Truly FUN a read this is. LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT IT.
