Josh Brenner is a good looking guy with an extraordinary talent he thinks is a curse - He's telepathic and he can't find the mute button, so he lives in solitude only coming out at night. But Josh isn't the only supernatural out and about this cold March night, because when Josh returns from his midnight run to the store to avoid people, he runs smack into a hungry agitated vampire looking for something and Josh is in his way.

Horrified by what he's seen and barely escaping with his life, he confides in a woman he barely knows, but has an instant connection with. When another vampire shows up looking for the first, Josh and his friend Lanie find themselves running for their lives and head to Oljone, California where a friend of Lanie's from College has helped her with a supernatural problem in the past.

But when they get to California with the vampire hot on their trail, they find Darby, Lanie's college pal, has moved to Massachusetts in search of her vampire boyfriend Devon.

Luckily Darby's sister Rowan and Devon's vampire brother, Blake, step in and help Josh and Lanie as best they can.

The four work together along with Dean (a werewolf) and his girlfriend Sally (a witch) to figure out this crazy mystery.

What does this determined vampire want and why? And is he willing to kill for it? As this mystery unfolds, so do other darker mysteries. Will they figure things out in time before some is killed? You'll just have to read it to see!

Ms. Tolles has many books out that will hold your attention throughout her writing. This story is about Josh, a man that won’t go out during the day because he can hear everyone’s thoughts and it’s just too much. One night while out, he runs into Lanie and finds that it’s so quiet when she is around. Until that fateful day he runs into something that wants a late night snack. Being hunted down by a vampire that wants something from him and he is clueless as to what it might be, Lanie takes him to the safety of Blake and Rowan’s home in hopes of finding help from the few people she associates with as well. She can touch things and see past events of people’s lives. She’s now on the run alone and hoping to save Josh by keeping the danger away and have it looking in other places. New friendships and findings will bring Josh and Lanie into a world they never expected.

T. Lynne Tolles does it again with book four. In this delightful tale we get to meet two new wonderful characters, Josh and Melanie. Two very unique characters with some very different abilities. I fell in love with the two new members that added depth and intrigue to this wonderful series. Miss Tolles herself has a wonderful ability in creating characters that have you routing for them from the moment they appear. I highly recommend this book to fans of vampires, werewolves, witches and other supernatural beings. Sequel, Please for these new characters! :)

Enjoyable

This book was a continuation of the first books. It was very good and I would read it again. All the family's were very close and that was really nice. They will always be that way, I would like to read what happens with josh and lanie, in another story, but will have to wait and see

This book was good, but not my favorite. I enjoyed Josh's story, but there was a lot of other stuff going on at the same time. I felt like all the side story lines distracted from the main plot. I am not a fan of more than a few point of views. Anything over 3 or 4 point of views in a single book is too much.

The main idea of Bloodstone Heart is really interesting. I enjoyed the mystery aspect of the story. Josh is trying to find out who the vampires are that are after him and what they are seeking. It did really keep me guessing, and I appreciated the complexity that went into the plot. I liked all the different abilities and creatures that were involved in the story too. There were vampires and werewolves and mind readers, just to name a few. All things I really enjoy, I just felt like there were a bit too many of them in one story.

This series changes the main characters in each of the books. I feel like it could be really good if it just cut out some of the secondary storylines in each book. As it is, it tries to shift the focus, while still keeping all of the secondary characters involved in each book. The result is kind of confusing. I think Bloodstone Heart was a little more focused I would have enjoyed it a lot more. I am still going to keep reading the series though because I want to know how it is all going to turn out.

2.5/5 gavels.

This book was okay. I really enjoyed both of the main characters Josh and Lanie. It would have been fun to see where their relationship led, who the man in black was and what he and his vampire friend were searching for, perhaps one day I will finish. I think part of the problem is that I may have overdosed on vampire type young adult books.

The story seemed very shallow and through-out the first 50 pages I kept thinking this book as NOT been proofread yet! The writing was NOT good at all. Way to many ands in sentences that should not have had them. Also repetitive use of words in sentences right next to each other.

Although the book had an intriguing storyline I could not get past it's shallowness and the way it was written. Besides having a cohesive plot it was like the authors sentences were printed exactly they way they rambled out of her brain onto the page.

I don't think I can finish this book. I read the first, and now that I think about it, don't think I finished it. I downloaded all the books in the series thinking they would be good. I was wrong. But, since I had them all sitting there in my Kindle and I am short on funds to download a book to read I decided to start this one (though I didn't realize it was the 4th book of the series).

The dialogue is just terrible. People don't say the things these characters say. It's not realistic and ends up being really annoying. I found myself scanning through pages just to get it over with. The story line jumps around from two main characters to all these other characters that were in previous books and possibly to introduce new characters for a future book. Annoying is an understatement.

Not recommended to anyone. Don't waste your time or money on anything by this author.

This story was really hard for me to stay engaged in. The Bloodstone Heart starts strong with some interesting characters of Josh and Melanie. But after Josh encounters and kills a vampire and comes in possession of the Bloodstone Heart it all jumbled up for me.

Once they were on the run I was introduced to a slew of new characters with powers and different story lines took me in all directions until the end where we pick back up with Josh and Melanie and the Bloodstone Heart.

This series is great for a "beginner" paranormal freak! Vampires, werewolves and witches are just normal goofy people! Fast reading, even if some of pages get a little thick with words!
