Colin Bateman was a journalist in Northern Ireland before becoming a full-time writer. His first novel, Divorcing Jack, won the Betty Trask Prize, and all his novels have been critically acclaimed. He wrote the screenplays for the feature films of Divorcing Jack, Crossmaheart and Wild About Harry. He lives in Northern Ireland with his family.

Fun, fast-paced with zany Northern Irish wit. A great read for children (and light-hearted adults). Slightly biased review because I have discovered that I am related to both Oliver Plunkett (of the missing head), the saint and Primate of Ireland, as well as Joseph Mary Plunkett, who is considered an Irish hero in the 1916 Uprising.

Right from the beginning, I knew I would enjoy Bring Me the Head of Oliver Plunkett. The book is fast-paced and has wonderful characters that make the story leap right off of the page and into your imagination. Colin Bateman does a smashing job of creating characters that are very believable and that kids will love to read about.

I found myself quite enraptured with the story and had a very hard time putting the book down, finishing the last 200 pages in one sitting as the action becomes more intense. There are a lot of reference to the first book about Eddie & The Gang With No Name in Running With the Reservoir Pups, but you don't have to have read it to understand this book.

Overall, I thought that Bring Me the Head of Oliver Plunkett was an excellent story with fun and excitement that all readers will enjoy. Bravo, Colin Bateman. Way to go!

This is a very good and funny book. It starts out kind of dragy and boring. I almost returned it to my school library but then i thought that i should keep reading and see if it got better. so i did. And then i couldn't stop reading. So if you get this book and it is boring and you want to return it. i encourage you to keep reading. tust me it gets better.

A book aimed at tweens. There really is a Saint Oliver Plunkett's head at a church in Ireland. Story kept me engaged.
