Cocorina had a big heart, but she was clumsy and forgetful too. She always had a thousand things in mind, so imagine when she gave birth to three chicks! Sometimes, her children ended up finding themselves in complicated situations due to the occasional distractions from their mother. In the farmyard, the other hens gossiped and insinuated Cocorina wasn’t a good mother to her children, and the rumor started to spread… Suddenly the rumor had already arrived to the city and soon to the most remote part of the world. Everyone said that Cocorina did not treat her children well. Although not everything was going as Cocorina would have liked, she did not stop striving for the welfare of her three beloved children. But being a good mother was not an easy more than once did Cocorina mess up, but she never gave up and, right after apologizing to her three little ones, she hugged them and showed them that she loved them very much. And the rumors didn’t matter, because the three chicks were clear that their mother was unique and that they would not change her for anything in the world. Cocorina era una gallina muy simpática y cariñosa, pero también algo despistada y torpe. El hecho de ser mamá de tres pollitos no ayudaba ¡Cocorina andaba de aquí para allá con mil cosas a la cabeza! Sus pollitos en más de una ocasión acababan encontrándose en situaciones complicadas debido a algún que otro despiste de su mamá. Las gallinas empezaron a criticar a Cocorina por no ser una buena madre, y, de pronto, el rumor ya había circulado por la ciudad hasta llegar al lugar más remoto del todos decían que Cocorina no trataba bien a sus hijos. Si bien no todo iba como a Cocorina le hubiese gustado, ella no dejaba de esforzarse por el bienestar de sus tres queridos hijos. Pero ser una buena mamá no era tarea fá más de una vez Cocorina metió la pata, pero ella no se rendía nunca y, pidiendo perdón a sus tres pequeños, los abrazaba y les demostraba que los quería muchísimo. Y nada importaron los rumores, porque los tres pollitos tenían claro que su mamá era única y que no la cambiarían por nada en el mundo.

Mar Pavón (Manresa, 16 de septiembre de 1968) es una escritora que cultiva sobre todo la literatura infantil. Tiene publicados numerosos títulos infantiles, muchos de ellos traducidos al inglés, francés, portugués, italiano, alemán, holandés, chino y coreano, entre otros.
Ha sido distinguida con prestigiosos reconocimientos en los EE.UU., algunos de los cuales otorgados por los International Latino Book Awards. Su obra más significativa es Yeray poeta, publicada a raíz del nacimiento de su hijo en 1996. Su personaje más popular es "La gallina Cocorina", creado en colaboración con la ilustradora Mónica Carretero y que ha resultado ganador en varios premios y reconocimientos.

Mar Pavón (Manresa, Spain, 1968) is a writer mainly dedicated to children's literature. Some of her extensive work is translated into English, French, Portuguese, Italian, German, Dutch, Chinese and Korean, among other languages.
She has been honored with prestigious awards in the US, some of which were presented by the International Latino Book Awards. Her most significant work is Yeray Poeta, published following the birth of her son in 1996. Her most popular character is “Clucky the Hen”, created in collaboration with the illustrator Mónica Carretero, winner of several awards and recognitions.

I have mixed feelings about this one. I don’t like that it keeps saying that Clucky is a bad mother. I also don’t like that she was going to give her kids away because she was so bad yet her chicks changed her mind. Why is this an issue? Well imagine being a child who has to go into foster care and they read this book and don’t understand why they couldn’t get their mom to stay... that is way too much for a child like this to handle.
The reason I gave it three stars is because my six-year-old absolutely loved this book and she took it the way that the author probably intended it to. So as an adult I do not like the book but my child saw it as an opportunity to let me know that she thinks I’m an awesome mom no matter how many mistakes I make.

Cluky the hen is the story in verse of a chicken a little clumsy and clueless but above all takes care and protects their chicks. There is also talk in this story of the rumors how they can expand even if they are not true. Nice illustrations.

La gallina Cocorina es la historia en verso de una gallina un poco torpe y despistada pero que sobre todo cuida y protege a sus pollitos. También se habla en esta historia de los rumores de cómo pueden expandirse aunque no sean ciertos. Bonitas ilustraciones.

La poule Cocorina, c'est l'histoire en vers d'une poule un peu maladroite et désemparée qui, avant tout, soigne et protège ses poussins. Il est également question dans cette histoire des rumeurs sur la façon dont elles peuvent se développer même si elles ne sont pas vraies. Belles illustrations.

Cocorina es una gallina simpática y cariñosa...
pero también un poco despistada y esto hacía que sus pollitos se encontrarán en ocasiones complicadas. En el corral las gallinas empezaron a criticar a Cocorina por no ser una buena mamá y el rumor corrió y corrió hasta llegar al espacio sideral.

Ser una buena mamá no era tarea fácil...
más de una vez Cocorina metió la pata, pero nunca se rindió, siempre mostró a sus tres pequeños lo mucho que los amaba y pedía perdón cuando cometía un error. Los tres pollitos tenían claro que su mamá era única y que no la cambiarían por nada en el mundo.

Esta es una historia llena de emoción escrita en verso, que nos enseña que nadie es perfecto. La crianza positiva se inicia por reconocer que no nacemos sabiendo ser madres o padres de familia... es un proceso de aprendizaje, además requiere de mucha paciencia, sobre todo, si queremos hacer las cosas diferentes.

Being a parent can be challenging. I think it’s the perfect book to teach that lesson to our children. Mums are imperfect but try their best!

This is a book about gossiping. The rumour gets out that Clucky is a terrible mother. The rumour spreads and spreads but it is ifalse as Clucky is just doing the best she can.
