This is an amazing reading pack for young children. My daughter is in Sr. Kindergarten and can now read almost all of these books by herself. The way they are designed with the repetition and patterns is a great aide in helping young readers develop skills with their sight words and sounding out words. Almost every day now my daughter grabs these books and randomly works through them. In this box set the 25 readers are:

What is for Supper?
Fun at the Playground
Hello, Beach
Fun With Mud
Birthday Surprise
Cold Rose
What Can I See?
I Like School
Look What I Found!
What Shines?
Bubbles!
What Do I Need?
Where Is Petey?
Hide and Seek

First Little Readers: Level A by Deborah Schecter is an excellent resource for beginning readers and their parents. The set includes 25 simple, engaging storybooks that use repetitive, easy-to-follow text ideal for PreK to Grade 2 learners. Each story is just the right length to hold a young child's attention, while promoting early reading skills, confidence, and phonemic awareness. The colourful illustrations complement the text and help children connect meaning with words. A helpful parent guide offers tips on how to support a child’s reading journey, making it a valuable tool at home or in the classroom. This pack is perfect for introducing children to the joy of reading, especially those just starting out.

I must prefer phonics readers than these repetitive sentence/picture clue readers, but we borrowed them from the library and the girls did enjoy them.

These are by far the best thing going for anyone who really wants to help a real beginning reader get off on the right foot. Few words per page---pictures help to figure out words--few pages, so my granddaughter was able to complete a book in a short amount of time without getting frustrated. I've found that most of the "Reading Level 1" books are actually still very difficult for a truly new reader. Also, the words in this book allow for "games" that parents can easily start with kids where they can spell more words based on words in the book. Example--"sand". Developed into "band", "hand", "land". My granddaughter's excitement over being "so smart" was more than worth the price of these books!!!!
