excellent collection of stories. This series, what appears to be a quarterly set is very good. The story content does range from classic monsters to some disturbing stuff, and certainly is PG-13 if that can be said of books. it is a good primer and companion for horror and fiction readers. as they are short stories it is good to read as you travel or settle in for the night. Scary dreams! its fun stuff and some quality writers.
Overview: The first issue of Dark Moon Digest is better than I had expected it would be. In a highly competitive market Dark Moon Digest feels quite fresh, and if nothing else has at least set the tone for a publication that will involve its reader and, stories aside, be considerably fun. Overall I would recommend it, if only to help it become a better publication. Both print and electronic copies are available, and cheaper than a lunch at a fast-food outlet. The magazine does need work though: I would recommend they hire a copy-editor as the instances of poor grammar and rickety sentences are too many, marring a couple of the stories. They also need to work on their non-fiction. The stories are good if not great, though there are a couple of nice surprises, especially with two of the zombie inclusions: "Remaining Zheng" and "The Interrogation of John Walker."
As the Senior Associate Editor, I get to read some of these stories before they make it to print and I help decide what gets printed and what doesn't. Let me tell you that the stories in this quarterly are the top picks from our team of editors and they range from thrilling to creepy to downright spine-tingling. And if you like the first issue, you're going to LOVE the second and third issues. We're only getting better from here.
A promising start and the magazine is getting stronger, nothing groundbreaking but some good fun horror stories in the early issues and it's cheap to buy online. Recommended
