In her sexiest tale yet, Zuri Day delivers a tempting double-dare that breaks every rule. . .
Thanks to a stroke of bad luck, Eden Anderson's childhood tormentor, Jansen McKnight, is now her temporary roommate. He's also a badass, gun-toting cop who relishes a steak dinner. As a peace-loving vegetarian, there's nothing Eden hates more than guns--and meat. And there's nothing she'd love more than to deflate Jansen's overblown ego. So when Jansen bets Eden that he can seduce her within two weeks, she can't wait for him to lose. But as Eden learns more about the man beyond the badge, their teasing turns tantalizing. Soon, Eden starts to believe that opposites may indeed attract, and she can't stop thinking about the man in blue. . .
Zuri Day is a hopeful romantic. She believes in happy endings, half-full glasses and dreams coming true. That's why she's thrilled to be a contributing writer to this genre...one of her favorites!
Zuri doesn't remember exactly how old she was when she picked up her first romance novel, but she does remember it was love at first sight. "It was probably a Harlequin," she recalled during a recent interview. "And it thankfully took me away from a fairly dull and routine existence growing up in a small Kansas town."
Things aren't dull and routine anymore. Zuri now resides in Los Angeles with her family and when she isn't writing loves to travel the world, cook vegetarian food, work out, watch sports, attend concerts and theatre and enjoy the simple things in life.
"Many people have given up on love, much less romance," Zuri says. "I'm hoping that somehow, through the love-filled pages of my romance novels, I can ignite the reader's desire to believe again. Because everything is possible, when we believe..."
I really enjoyed Jansen: his look, his general manner and especially his integrity and grit. I am not a vegan, peace loving, “new age” person. I like my men to be manly, raw and even a bit rough around the edges…and Jansen was all that: a meat eating some-some…He was the bomb! The only point I may concede to Eden might be Jansen’s collection of guns, with at least one gun in every room of his home as well as wall mounted and photographed. That said, in my experience with the single (no children) police officers that I have met, this is not wholly unexpected.
Eden: A moment please while a muster up enough energy and interest to find three lines to say about her. I found her very shallow and superficial (not the writing of Eden, but Eden herself as a person. I would not be friends with her). For a person on a path to spiritual and internal enlightenment, I really didn’t see it. She was so closed minded and set in her “new ways” that I grew annoyed with her. Her lack of understanding and compassion for Jansen and his job only served to irritate me further. I found myself wanting to yell at Jansen to find someone better, someone who deserved him.
I really enjoyed Zuri Day’s writing and the characters jumped off the page. I found myself hearing them speak and seeing them in my minds eye. Perhaps that is why I am so passionate about Jansen and Eden…I wanted to love them together and in the end, I did. Please take my 3 Hoots with a grain of salt; I just couldn’t make myself like Eden. Enjoy!
**DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED THE BOOK* Soooooo I haven’t wrote a detailed book review in a good little minute but I feel like I have to for this one. First let me start off by saying Zuri Day is one of my favorite authors for sure, but this book right here kinda fell flat. Where did it fall flat Adrianne? Right at the end!!!! So like im sitting here listening (because I have the audiobook) to the book, and there’s all this build up from Edens boss about how he was determined to get whatever he sets his eye on. Don’t get me wrong, Jansen did confront him, but after that one confrontation and he’s just done trying to get eden? So I felt like that storyline fell flat. I also feel like there was all of this build up towards eden and Jansen getting engaged....not married, but engaged but oh let’s just end the book by saying Eden is preggo. Like I get they had a lot of passion the entire book, but that’s what almost made me believe that Dr Alex was going to swoop in and steal Eden away from Jansen. They live a similar lifestyle etc. The book never emphasized eden and Jansen getting to know each other outside the sheets which wasn’t realistic for me. I love cliche romances so that’s why this book wasn’t bad for me. She’s “lovin blue” which is the title of the book, so I give Zuri some credit for that, I also enjoyed the read.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I've read a few books by Zuri Day and missed this one. I totally like Jansen McKnight, he's a mans Man dedicated to his job/community, loyal and trust- worthy. He may have tormented Eden Anderson as a child, but he's definitely feeling her now. Eden, at times works my nerves with her judging. I know she has feeling for Jansen. Doesn't like his job and the fact that he has guns. All in all it was a good book and the story flowed, opposites do attract.
This book was okay. The plot could have been executed better. There was little conflict throughout, up until the very end, and even that was resolved without much effort on the part of the characters. They went through little change during the course of the book. It could have definitely been better.
I really enjoyed this book, the flirting between Jensen and Eden made me smile a lot, Eden made me want to slap her on several occasions. I felt the storyline was predictable but I was proven wrong on each part I felt was predictable and this made the book even more enjoyable. Great Job Zuri.
Eden Anderson finds herself as a temporary roommate with her brother's childhood friend Jansen McKnight, who was her tormentor when they were kids. Their first meeting is hilarious and memorable. Jansen is a badass, gun-toting cop who loves juicy steak dinners. Eden is a peace-loving vegetarian, who hates guns and meat. More than anything Eden wants to put a pin in Jansen's overblown ego. Jansen bets Eden that he can seduce her within two weeks. Their teasing turns to tantalizing attraction that neither can resist and proves that opposites attract.
I’m not really sure why or if I should give this a two or three stars. I gave it two because Jansen is an insecure, over sexed jerk. Thing is, those kind of people exist, I just didn’t like him.
Eden is extremely wispy washy, and her relationship with her boss made no sense. So yeah, let’s go with the two.
My my my, I did not want this book to end. It was a beautifully written love story between two opposite people who made love work. I loved Eden’s character, and I loved Jansen’s heart. I hope there is a book two
This is my first read by this author and is a stand alone novel. The chemistry between the two main characters made the book enjoyable and sexy. I loved Jansen and his personality in the book. He is strong willed and not afraid of a challenge. Eden, at times, could be annoying and naive. Even though she had her moments of flaws, I did enjoy reading about the two characters.
When I finished the book, my overall feeling for it was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. It kind of fell in the middle for me in ratings. I thought the love scenes were sexy, but not over the top. The characters balanced each other out nicely and the ending was a little too neatly wrapped up. There was parts of the book were the narrative dialogue goes a little overboard.
Overall just an okay book for me. If you are looking for a fun and sexy read to pass the time, then this book would do in a pinch. I wouldn't say it is a must have read, but one to pick up and read when you have a little extra time.
Jansen is staying at his best friend’s house while he is out of town and was surprised to find Eden his best friend’s sister at the house. You can immediately see the chemistry between the both of them even though Eden doesn’t want to admit that she has feelings for Jansen. There are a couple of reasons why she doesn’t want to admit to it mainly because of his profession. The more that they spend together the more they want to see where this relationship is going to take them. Jansen is determined that they will be together and will do whatever it takes to make that happen along with protecting her. Eden has to get over some stuff in order them to make their relationship work. I thought this was a good read and I loved Jansen’s character, I thought Jansen is definitely what Eden needed in her life.
Lovin Blue by Zuri Day Janson McKnight was divorced and a police officer and he held a gun to her. She fainted and when awake realized it was her brother's best friend. Eden, divorced also couldn't believe he was here in her brother's apartment. Her place won't be ready for a week so just one night at her brothers is the plan but she and Janson come to an agreement that the winner will do what the other wants.' She cooks vegetarian and he's a meat and potatoes man so they are at opposite sides of the stove. She's anti war/guns and that's his job. Sunday's dare is for them to run 2 miles, and then do her yoga stretches afterwards. Eden finds out the truth about a killing and she leaves him.
Past tormentors can become the best thing for ones' future. Eden has returned home after make life changes upon ending her marriage. Returning home she was not expecting to find love in the arms of the one man that tormented her as a child.
Jansen find his little came of seduction is truly more than if he can. It becomes he must. Eden is all he can desire in a woman. Once he takes a bite of her forbidden fruit things begin to change for him.
Day has made two different lives and lifestyles mix with some effort on the parts of the hero and heroine.
What a great read. Eden and Jansen what else can I say but super hot and steamy! These two had undeniable chemistry from the very beginning. It's so wonderful how 2 people who knew each other basically their whole lives can come together in such a passionate way after a chance encounter. Zuri Day is certainly now one of my favs and I can't wait to read more.
This was a fun book. more cheesy than i would normaly go for but it did its job, it got me out of the funk... but really who would make a bet with a man to see who could suduce whom... that was really a silly premise.. the writting was 3rd grade level so it was a quick easy read.. i kept being thrown off by many of the word choices though. all in all did its job would never read again.
Summary sounded more interesting than the book actually ended up being. I liked the premise a lot more than the execution of it. Eden and Jansen sounded like they would be amazing characters, if the story was written in a different way.
Not sure I read the same book as the other reviewers.
