Will Tate and his family set sail for America. But they are on board the Titanic, the "unsinkable" ship, which is heading for disaster! WARNING! WARNING! DON'T GET HAUNTED!!!! There is a very disturbing picture around 18-19? that haunted me for 46 days! Ridiculous! It made me throw up, live with hyperpressure, and worse, my life was almost changed by this! Yet this gave me the expertise of Titanic, but if you really don't want to have a lifelong sadness, wait until you're adult to read this horrific story. Did I ever tell you I hate ghost stories?!?!?
My 7 year old reluctant reader thought this was okay. He likes nonfiction readers and there just isn't enough of them out there. I have a feeling he'll like this more when he's a little older and can appreciate it more. I think most kids in 2nd or 3rd grade who already know the basic story would really enjoy this.
Jack found the story of the Titanic, in this children's DK book, fascinating. He read it over two days and stumbled over a few words but is doing much better. Obviously this doesn't go into the full horror of the story, but does cover the very basic facts of the disaster. A good starting point for children in grades 1-3 (depending on reading ability) if they're interested in what happened.
