Your power in spiritual warfare is as close as a whisper, as near as a prayer.
As a follower of Jesus, you are engaged in a battle against a treacherous enemy. But the mighty power of God is yours through Christ’s victory on the cross of Calvary.
The daily readings in this uplifting devotional are steeped in Scripture and blended with praise to bring foundational truths to life—to help you wield the power of God that’s available in all our afflictions, in every trial and temptation.
The truths in these pages will equip you to resist the forces of evil, to stand firm in a day of deepening darkness, and to know firsthand the truth of Romans 8:37:
“In all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.”
The introduction was the most interesting portion of the book; that, and the author’s history. Ruth Meyers and her husband, Warren were missionaries in Asia. I wish she had mixed some of her experiences with the daily prayers, but part way into Day 2 I hit a “bump” (as my critique group would say when they don’t like something or are confused by something).
Day 1 and 2 sound alike. I skipped ahead a few pages to see if that trend continued and tried to find an interest in this well-intentioned book of prayers. There’s nothing wrong with the writing. It’s pages contain sincere and praiseworthy prayers, but the introduction alluded to something more. She said these prayers helped her out all those years in Asia. She wanted to share those prayers with the world. It’s not a Daily Bread, but it does begin to get interesting in Part II.
I skipped the first half of the book and investigated Part II, The Dynamics of Spiritual Warfare. Perhaps it should have begun there and ended with the second half of prayers. I stopped before I got to the second portion because the first portion lacked the promise of the introduction. The second half of the book delves into the meat of Spiritual warfare. I am no theologian and have only been a Christian for eight years. I am still learning about Spiritual warfare. This book is one I had trouble getting into and one that I did not finish. It’s not to say someone else may not like it, but I wish that she would have included her personal experiences, rearranged the book to keep the reader interested, and lived up to the promise of the introduction. Sadly, I give this book only three stars. It would have been two, but that second part earned it a third star.

Your power in spiritual warfare is as close as a whisper, as near as a prayer…
As a follower of Christ, we’re engaged in a battle against a treacherous enemy. But the might power of God is yours through Jesus’ victory on the cross.
31 DAYS OF POWER is an uplifting praise devotional, steeped in Scripture. It will bring fundamental truths to life to help you wield the available power of God in all our afflictions, every trial, and temptation.
I really liked the praise aspect of this devotional. Sometimes I don’t get as much praise to the Holy One into my day as I should and my soul cries out for it. This devotional is filled with praise, from the beginning of the daily reading to the end. Along with it are several scripture references, often from Psalms, but other books of the Bible are well-represented, that go along with the devotional reading.
If you are looking for a devotional filled with praise for the Lord, then 31 DAYS OF POWER is the book for you. It is small, and easy enough to be carried along with you (if you have a Bible along, you’ll be in good shape) and the devotions won’t take much time from your day. If you’re looking for a meatier devotional to help you learn more about God and scripture, then look further, but this is a wonderful praise type one. $12.99. 159 pages.
Sunday, April 17, 201131 Days of Power:Learning to Live in Spiritual Victory by Ruth Myers
Ruth Myers starts the beginning of this book with 31 days of devotionals which includes practical suggestions and common questions about living life with power and potential. It offers an area for the reader to write out there thoughts, and questions behind each day for further thought and study.
The second part of the book is the best part. It offers the reader biblically sound scripture and practical advice for fight spiritual warfare on a daily basis. It describes the methods and ways of Satan, and ways to overcome his attacks.
The author educates, enlightens, rejuvenates, and inspires the reader to seek God for power and prayer. I was very impressed with this book, and recommend it to anyone who wants to seek God's power in their life.
I received this book complimentary from the publisher the WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group book review program. I was not required to write anything other than my honest opinion of this book. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255vf: Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.
The book is divided into 31 devotions, and each devotion begins as a prayer. Myers does an excellent job of weaving scripture through the book. I appreciate that there are blank lines in the book where the reader can write thoughts and prayers. I enjoy being able to interact with the book. I am on day 5, and I intend to continue through the end! The devotions are in fact empowering, and the amount of daily reading is quite manageable. Thank you to the first reads program for sending me the book!
Ruth Myers does an incredible job of writing this encouraging, spiritual book. The first part of the book is divided into 31 days, in which the reader gets a bit of inspirtion and even time to meditate and pray over the particular topic. After reading each day, I was always hungry for more. The second part focused more on the dynamics of spiritual warfare. I found this to be a very quick and easy read, but engaging nonetheless. The daily readings are very uplifting and comforting to those seeking freedom and needing encouragement. A great read!
Am praying through this some what daily as I can. Like the verses layout in it, but would rather have verses in King James version, but just supplement those in as I pray them.Prayed through this and am starting over. I like the small light size.
