This new book by best-selling author Cindy Trimm, The Art of War for Spiritual Battle will become the “go-to” manual for preparing Christians to have victory in today’s spiritual battles with the enemy through strategic spiritual warfare and powerful intercessory prayer. Using occasional relevant quotes from the classic book, The Art of War by Sun Tzu, long a manual of wisdom for handling conflict of any kind, Trimm teaches the necessary disciplines for a modern-day prayer warrior. The principles in this book include tactics for organizing prayer, protocols for enforcing your authority as you wage your prayer campaign, and strategies for establishing and expanding God’s kingdom wherever you are.
Dr. Cindy Trimm is a sought-after empowerment specialist, revolutionary thinker, and transformational leader. She has earned a distinguished reputation as a catalyst of change and voice of hope to the nations.
As an author, Dr. Trimm has repeatedly topped bestsellers lists with what have become renown classics, such as: Commanding Your Morning, The 40 Day Soul Fast, The Rules of Engagement for Overcoming Your Past, and Prevail: Discover Your Strength in Hard Places.
By using Sun Tzu's "Art of War", which most people are familiar with, as a template for spiritual battle against Satan's forces Dr. Trimm has brought prayer life into the forefront of the readers battle plan. She has stated that Satan doesn't mind if we are Christians as long as we don't know that persistant prayer and time spent with God are the best ways of defeating him. This book is how to use fervent prayer to enable God to bring Heaven down to earth and to spread His light throughout the nations and throughout our lives. There is something here for everyone that can enable them to apply prayer more efficiently in their life. The most important thing to realize is that it is persistant prayer that effects change. A definite read for anyone interested in becoming a prayer warrior or just interested in improving their prayer life. The book is easy to read and understand and small enough to carry with you anywhere.
Great idea, but the book was somewhat disappointing. Don't get me wrong: It has a wonderful overall message, and I applaud the author for encouraging people to get serious about prayer because we need more of that in the world. But to me, the book was very repetitive, with too much emphasis on the concept and not enough on practical uses. With the phrase "Essential Tactics and Strategies" in the subtitle, I guess I expected more focus on application. When the book finally does get into some tactics (about 2/3 of the way in), I honestly started questioning the author's biblical knowledge. Different times of the day are more effective for certain prayers? I don't think that's what the Bible teaches. That's starting to sound like superstition to me. God's ability to answer prayers is not limited by the orbits of the sun and moon that He created! Besides, when it's 6 am in one place, it's 6 pm somewhere else. See, these are the things you have to be careful of because the enemy will use messages that sound good but are biblically inaccurate to actually make your prayer life weaker when you start relying on things outside of God's Word. My apologies to the author who clearly has good intentions, but Deuteronomy 4:2 "Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you."
Although this book is small, it is VERY powerful in it's context. Prayer is that MAJOR factor in the believer's life that is very often neglected. It is for that reason of "neglect" that the enemy is able to wage war against us. We have the weapons necessary to win EVERY battle!! We must PRAY!! We must use The Word of GOD in all areas of our lives through strategic prayer for continued victory. Dr. Cindy Trimm has done it again-another thought-provoking book to challenge the believer in Jesus Christ to..................PRAY via the Art of War!! It is indeed a spiritual battle that we are well able to win...If we would only PRAY!! This is a must read for every believer!!
Comforting, inspiring, and motivating. A takeoff on Sun Tzu's Art of War, with a spin on the battle between the kingdoms of good and evil. A short book but dense in its' writing. Alludes to historical figures and events as well as biblical stories. Will return to it again.
This book allowed me to see that I am but a prayer soldier. God has called all of us to pray as warriors. I may not be called to be a prayer general, but I can pray every day the word of God over myself, my family, associates, and friends and know that my prayers will be answered.
She has excellent techniques, verses, and times and strategies about when to pray, and why. There’s definitely good stuff in here, I highly recommend. Almost as good as her preaching in person.
I like how the chapters were broken up, not dry, but very easily understood! Very good book especially for anyone desiring to know how to battle in warfare! It gives the behind the scenes to help the on scene moments we will encounter as we grow in our prayer lives!
I ended up completing this back on Kindle read. I can see reading this a few more times I can see adding this to my favorites and needing it on hard copy!!!
Cindy's books are wonderful, though they sometimes repeat themselves. Still, this book is especially valuable! It's a helpful reminder and guide for prayer, offering gentle suggestions rather than strict rules. Think of it as a spark to ignite a deeper study of the Bible and your relationship with God.
I love how the book encourages you to see things from God's point of view—it's almost like a sermon! Even the lighter moments about war emphasize the importance of devotion. Cindy's thoughtful approach is truly commendable.
I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to improve their prayer life and grow in their faith. It's a truly meaningful resource.
Some parts of the reading was slightly boring with the research concepts from "The Art of War" even though you can see how the concepts relate to spiritual battles and warfare. She also gives concepts from old philosophers, biblical figures, and war or social leaders--usually I like research and insight but for some reason, it bored me.
However, I did like the concepts on prayer (2 key points from James): (1) We are not asking the right source (2) If we are asking, our motives are carnal (selfish and self-serving)
And this really moved me: "Making mistakes comes with leadership. If you are to succeed and become great, you must take risks. And in taking risks, there is always a chance of failure. But successful people start where failures finish. You must take courage and never buckle under the weight of criticism or the fear of failure. Failure gives relevance and significance to success. Failure and success exist on opposite ends of the same continuum." (pp. 90-91). I really loved where successful people start where failures finish; we are able to pick up the pieces, become wiser and smarter, and will move forward regardless of what took place. I love this life, and appear successful in others eyes, but I give all my glory to God.
"People complain that their prayers don't get answered for this very reason: They don't live by prayer depending on God...building their faith day by day." (page 84, paraphrased). I had a lady come on my program last month, saying, "Why doesn't God answer my prayers and hasn't done anything for me lately!" This is probably why? And I would add, obedience. Are we doing things for God to get something in return; or doing it because we love HIM!
This book focus on prayer in regard to the spiritual battle. I was disappointed by its limited focus as the subtitle made the book sound like it was more encompassing in including all aspects of the spiritual battle in regard to the principles of the Art of War.
Even by its limited scope of just dealing on the topic of prayer, it was a good read and aid in light of the spiritual battle we are engaged in every day.
There were a couple times I didnt agree with the author's theology. Sorry, didnt write down or flag those 2 areas as I read the book. I specifically like the part which talked about all the blessings and wealth God is ready to unload on us or a situation if we just ask, but we have to ask. Prayer is communication, you don't ask you don't receive. God wants to hear from you and me. I believe prayer is not a waste of time because God already knows. God the Father wants to hear from His children.
Excellent handbook for battling the enemy. "There is certainly power in the Word of God as it is spoken into any situation, but no place is it more powerful than in prayer." Read this book to step up you prayer warrior skills.
This was an astounding way to look at how you've u can pray with effectiveness I never would have imagined some of the ways I have learned how to pay on this new level.
