The National Geographic Society (NGS), headquartered in Washington, D.C., United States, is one of the largest nonprofit scientific and educational organizations in the world.
Founded in 1888, its interests include geography, archaeology, and natural science, the promotion of environmental and historical conservation, and the study of world culture and history. The National Geographic Society's logo is a yellow portrait frame—rectangular in shape—which appears on the margins surrounding the front covers of its magazines and as its television channel logo. Through National Geographic Partners (a joint venture with The Walt Disney Company), the Society operates the magazine, TV channels, a website, worldwide events, and other media operations.

1. Summary
This National geographic book called "Mammals", it showa pictures and words discribing what a mammal is. There is many pictures of the mammals in their natural habbitats. It shows behaviors and habbits of mammals around the world.
2. Connections
Most national geographic books are written the way this one is, especially the ones aimed toward young children. The book would be considered nonfiction because it has a clear purpose. Also, everything in the book is true and prooved to be true. It is an educational book.
3. reaction
I really liked this book. I thought it would be appropriate for children from ages 3-15. It was imformative enough that i think andyone could get something out of it, but it is written in a way that a younger child could read and understand.

I grew up with this book (was two volumes back then) and it ingrained in me a lifelong fascination and appreciation for animals and biology.

Buy this for your kids and leave it around for them to pick up from time to time. I pored over every page of it for a large part of my childhood.
