Family Matters

Rate this book
Kerry Anne MacBride and her quirky family are a package deal—get one, you get them all. The high school art teacher is stubborn and fiercely protective of her kin, making her the absolute wrong woman for a straitlaced, hardheaded, by-the-books lawyer like Matt Lawrence, no matter how attracted she is to him. And anyway, now's not the time for distractions! Kerry has to focus on cleaning up the latest MacBride a dilapidated amusement park her uncle just bought with the life savings of a bunch of senior citizens, including Matt's mom.

To restore Rainbow's End, Kerry will need Matt's help—and the luck of the Irish—because even though they clash more often than bumper cars, Kerry and Matt are about to share the wildest ride of their lives!

About me: my faves in life are chocolate, romance, and reading - and, of course, my DH (dear husband). ;) Exercise and housework...well, not so much.

About the writing: Short contemporary, small-town romance, usually with kids, quirky characters, and a touch of humor. All my books, even in series, are stand-alones with each hero and heroine reaching their Happy Ever After by the end of their story.

Harlequin Western Romance: The current series is The Hitching Post Hotel, a honeymoon destination set on a ranch owned by a matchmaking grandpa. The latest books are The Cowboy's Triple Surprise and The Rancher's Baby Proposal.

Entangled Bliss: This is a fun, sweet series called Snowflake Valley, set in a small town that caters to tourists 365 days a year and featuring the "bad-luck Barnett" sisters. Look for Snowbound with Mr. Wrong and the new release, One Week to Win Her Boss.

4.5 Stars. Such a fun, refreshing switch to read a love story set in a broken down amusement park rather than on a ranch or in an urban city like I’m used to finding in romances.

Kerry’s a compassionate art teacher, and Matthew’s a somewhat hardened lawyer, they semi join forces to revitalize an amusement park. Neither of them wants to be there, but both will do anything for family, including put up with one another’s fiery opinions, and an attraction they don’t think they want.

I really liked Kerry and Matthew together, how the warmth and respect gradually developed between them. I particularly liked their drive out to the amusement park when Matthew’s protectiveness and curiosity about Kerry really began to show.

The other standout for me here, as well as in the other book I’ve read by this authors is how well she populates the world around the couple with a variety of ages, and everyone feeling true to those ages, each with their own distinct personality, but never so much that they take over, it’s a tricky balance she manages really well.

What a wonderful story! Sensible Kerry O'Malley is always busy rescuing her relatives from hot water while barely staying afloat herself. When her Uncle Bren convinces the residents at a local senior community to pool their retirement funds and buy a ramshackle amusement park, Kerry finds herself toe to toe--and nose to nose!--with a handsome attorney who's against the whole plan. As much as Kerry might see eye to eye with him, she'll do what she must to protect her uncle and friends' dream.

The story is funny and poignant, and I think it grabbed me because it's set in the heart of the midwest. RT gave it a great review--and they were so right!

It was a fun story set in a broken down amusement park. I liked Kerry. She was a sweet but hotheaded heroine. The romance was built slowly and the story was a fast read. There were many eccentric characters that made the story more interesting

A funny artistic heroine, who deals with her quirky family and a man who is bent on tearing them apart. A great read.
