Scottish Highland Knits

Rate this book
Scottish tweed yarn, with its soft heathery colors reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands, provides the inspiration for this beautiful collection of 18 knits for men, women, children, and the home. Projects include a cable wrap cardigan, a seed stitch jacket, a simple felted child's cardigan, a delicate and feminine lacy wrapover top, and a shrug. Accessories with Scottish flair include Fair Isle socks, gloves, scarves, and some great knits for the home, such as a Fair Isle throw blanket with Fair Isle stripe, Fair Isle chunky cushions, and a patchwork blanket.

This is a charming book of 18 patterns. The patterns are rustic and homey. There is a repeating fair isle pattern that shows up in many of the patterns. There are pillows, scarves, socks, some great sweaters, and an afghan.

Oh, comfort knitting- I think it might be better than comfort food. This book makes me want to rent a cottage in Manzanita and knit, knit, knit. The seed stitch jacket, the fair isle stripe throw, the tie shrug, the textured scarf, the patchwork throw. Yes, please.

This book exculsively uses Rowan Tweed yarns. That's not bad, but worth mentioning, I think.
