I'm a big Fodor's fan. I loved that this book has quite a decent amount of color photos as well as the entire book being in color. The bonus planning guide is, well, a bonus.
This book covers all of the islands in the Bahamas as well as the Turks and Caicos islands which as actually the British West Indies. Each chapter caters to a clump of islands telling you where to eat, drink, and stay as well as the best activities.
My only warning about this guide is this: if you are using this book to choose what Bahamian island is best for your next trip this is perfect. There is even an island finder guide for this purpose. If you already know where you are headed I would try to find an In Focus guide for that particular island. I had purchased this book for a better look at Turks and Caicos and while I was not disappointed, other books proved to be more comprehensive.
This books offers good general information about the Bahamas, but it would be more helpful to have more tips about navigating and staying on the less populated islands. For instance, there are no street signs on Eleuthera and the entire island shuts down around the Christmas holiday so get any supplies you need before Christmas Eve and get enough to last you through Boxing Day. Better detailed maps would help, too.
Great book for helping me plan my trip/ vacation. Liked all the details, descriptions and photos. Customer reviews of excursion's made my planning easier.
