Science-loving Gabe and girl-crazy Dover are best friends. In fact, they're practically each other's only friends. So when Gabe's parents leave town for the weekend, he lets Dover convince him to break into his father's basement laboratory-even though he knows it's off-limits under penalty of lifelong grounding. Once inside, the boys make a shocking discovery, one that will turn a boring weekend into a hilarious madcap a smoking hot robot!
While Gabe and Dover argue over "Trina," the robot flees the lab. The chase is on! Before the day is over, she'll expose a traitorous plot, catapult two geeky freshmen to high school fame, and try to assassinate Dr. Phil!
Language - PG (9+ swears, 0+ "f"), Sexual Content - R; Violence - PG This book seemed very interesting until I reached page 41. It only took 41 pages for the inappropriate comments of two teenage boys to ruin the book for me. Reviewed for https://kissthebook.blogspot.com/
I read enough to get a feel for the story, but I wasn't compelled to finish it. School Library Journal recommended this for grades 7-up. Are they kidding? This belongs in a high school--not a middle school. This reminds me of Weird Science and I Love You, Beth Cooper. While it may be funny for high school boys, between the raw language and the freshmen boys wanting to have sex with a robot and any other real girl they see, this is not the story for your typical 12 year old. I'm very disappointed in the review as librarians do not have time to read every book in our collection and rely on reviews for age appropriateness recommendations all the time.
I did end up finishing the whole book, and I was not impressed.
The Robot by Paul E. Watson is an adventure novel. In the story the protagonist Gabe and his best friend Dover find out that Gabe's father built a robot. In an attempt to not have a boring weekend Gabe and Dover turn the robot on. Then before they know it the robot escapes the house and drive off into the world. It is now their job to find the robot before Gabe's father finds them.
This story has its ups and and downs as any book does. The good thing about this book is that the plot is very interesting and kept my attention in a lot of parts. The plot was great for someone like me who love reading adventure stories. Although I don't think the author did what he could of to use this plot to its full extent to make a better adventure. For example, when looking for the robot the two characters seem to automatically come to conclusion, while the author could have made so the had to go through a bunch of clue adding a mystery aspect.
Overall I would recommend this book. Although I would only recommend it to those who like sci-fi/fantasy book. Also people who are just interested in a good adventure book. On the other hand I would only recommend it to people who are mature enough as there are some adult aspect involved in the book. In the end I did enjoyed reading this book, but if it was improved I would enjoy it even more.
The Book I am reading is, "The Robot," By Paul E. Watson. The book is about two friends named Dover and Gabe who are left at Gabe's home over the weekend while his parent's go away. But Dover and Gabe soon go into Gabes Father's secret work place where they find an unexpected surprise that might change they're whole life.
There were many parts i liked in the book, mainly when they first find the trina, the author describes her in such detail to the point, also describing each of her actions in the whole story as though it's precise. Gabe and Dover are really interesting characters, they're friendship is a constant argument, but you can tell they are close friends by the way they know eachother.
The only thing i didn't like about the story was the plot, it seemed very non interesting to me, i expected the book to be better. I wish they used setting better, because they traveled looking for Trina and never described the places the went in a good way. Everything else i love. I would recommend this book to basically anyone who likes comedy, or sci-fi. I wouldn't read it again though.
This book, The Robot by Paul E. Watson is about two teenage boys that discover a robot. Gabe has always thought that his father makes vaccumes in their basement, he never thought that it was weird that the basement door was always locked. One weekend when Gabe's parents go on vacation Gabe has his friend over and they make a discovery, Gabe's dad has a robot in the basement. The robot is named Trina and she functions as a human. The three of them then go to a party and on the way someone starts shooting at them. Throughout the book they are trying to get away from the shooters. Then later on they find out that Trina is programmed to kill a celebrity and they have to stop her. Once they stop her Gabe is turned on and nearly killed but his neighbor and dad save him. My favorite part of the book is probably when Gabe stops Trina from shooting the celebrity. He is standing on the balcony and Trina is on the main level and Gabe jumps off of the balcony and Trina catches him, dropping the gun. This wasn't my favorite book but it was ok. I would give it 2.5 out of 5 stars. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes technology, strategy, and action.
Geeky boys will get a total kick out of these two friends who discover a highly realistic (and extremely sexy) female robot who they also discover seems to be programmed to as an assassin.
