I was blown away by this book in the series. T. Lynn Tolles has really developed these characters into a wonderful read. This was my favorite by far of the series. I had trouble leaving for work, wanting to bring the book with me to sneak reads of it during breaks. This book is not stop drama and suspense. The lead character, Darby really shines in this book as she goes it alone trying to find her vampire boyfriend who has been 'taken' by another vampire vixen. This is a must read for fans of this genre! Bravo, well done. I was happy to see a book four listed. That's next on my list.

This story continues about the relationship between Darby and Devon. Devon is called to his uncle’s house to find out what is ailing his cousin, Anton. Vampires don’t get sick so his uncle is hoping that Devon can bring light to why this is happening. Will Devon be able to save his cousin? Darby tags along only because it is Devon’s request but it doesn’t turn out the way she wants. He’s distant and uncaring, someone she doesn’t know. Will love keep them together or are there outside forces keeping them from it? Another well written story from Ms. Tolles and looking forward to reading the next book to the series.

A winsome tale of true love!

I loved the tale of this love story. Yeah there were werewolves and vampires but the real story, I felt, was how true love never gives up, never surrenders and never dies. Now I have to get the first two and find out about the characters mentioned from earlier adventures...and will be picking up any later stories because I am hoping to find a story for Dominic. I was oddly attracted to that one too though the main characters were Darby and Devon LOL Great book in a series I now have to have them all. Kudos to Tolles for a great love story!

4 1/2 STARS

Ms Tolles series begins in Olijone, California. Darby and Rowen are sisters that meet ‘the boys next door”. Thus their story begins.

Ms. Tolles’ Third Book of The Blood Series opens with the Thanksgiving dinner at Darby and Rowen's home. They are enjoying dinner with their boyfriends, brothers Devon and Blake, along with Dean and his new girlfriend Sally, when there is a knock at the door. Devon and Blakes’ Uncle Dominic is standing at the door in all of his intimidating glory. He orders his two nephews to come home with him. Anton, Dominic's son, is ill, and Dominic wants the brothers to come home with him. After much arguing, Devon is persuaded to fly home with his uncle. There is one stipulation; Darby is to come with them.

We subsequently learn that Devon and his cousin Anton have a long standing grudge. We also learn that in the past, Devon had brought home a beautiful vampire named Libby. He had introduced her to his family and had thought to marry her. Within weeks, she eloped with Anton. Devon is agreeable to come home. Devon insists that Dominic invites Darby to accompany them himself, to show that he could overcome his prejudice against witches and werewolves. Dominic does so, but soon after Darby agrees to go with Devon, the older man abruptly leaves. Devon withdraws into himself, not talking to Darby for days.

Arriving back at Dominic's home the next day, they find Anton is still very ill, but he does get up to eat dinner with the rest of the family. But dinner just raises more questions for Darby, who has been left in the dark by both Devon and Blake. This causes Devon to become more withdrawn and makes Dominic uncomfortable.

This part of the story is very harsh towards Darby. Devon is being extremely cold and unfeeling towards Darby, the woman he is supposed to love. Dominic surprises everyone, when he shows that he's not as grounded in his prejudices as everyone thinks. The actions of the lovely but evil vampire wife of Anton, Libby, causes a long and painful journey for Darby. Ms. Tolles writes a book that will cause you to hope Darby rejects Devon for good, and hope that Anton will find a way out of the clutches of his evil wife. She weaves a story that is more adult than her previous books, with more emotions and less paranormal actions.

I had somewhat of a hard time believing that Devon could jump from love to extreme coldness, and then back to a loving man, just from a short conversation with his uncle. Darby kept talking to Devon, and crying in front of him, and yet that apparently never touched his emotions. Next, when Devon disappears, Darby is the only one who thinks that it's not of his own free will. Blake and Rowan pretty much turn their backs on Darby while she is looking for Devon. No one seems surprised that Devon would disappear for months and not be concerned with his business and never contact anyone. But they believe that Devon has strong ethics and beliefs that go against just walking off with another woman without a word.

4 ½ stars for this book of Ms. Tolles. I enjoyed it and really became caught up the characters' lives and feel others would be on the edge of their seats, cheering for Darby while she is hurt by Devon's apparent betrayal but still believing in his love.

***SPOILER ALERT***

How far would you go for true love?

A visit (surprise) from Dominic (Devon and Blake’s uncle) demanding that the Bloomington boys come back home to Connecticut puts everyone on edge! Dominic is a very big influence to the brothers especially to Blake. Dominic wants the brothers to come back to see if they could help him discover what is or has been sickening his son Anton. Anton and Devon do not get along at all! They have had this animosity towards each other for a very very long time all because Devon feels that Anton stole the love of his life Libby.  Blake is not able to go back home with his uncle and Devon due to some business he needs to take care of so he volunteers Darby to go back with them advising them he will catch up with them once he has completed his business.

Darby is super excited to head to Connecticut with Devon because she is eager to meet more of his family.  Devon completely changes towards Darby as soon as his uncle comes back into the picture. His uncle’s presence brings back way too many memories for Devon. Once in Connecticut Darby feels as if she has lost Devon and it gets worse when out of the blue Anton’s estranged wife Libby shows up and has her eyes set back on Devon! Darby is trying to be nice to Anton but, Devon is completely against it. Darby does not understand why especially since the reason they left California was to see why Anton is ill. Devon and Libby head off to catch up on old times…never to return!!

But, before they head off Libby makes her last mark on Anton leaving him for dead. With the help from Darby they realize what Libby has done to Anton and Darby agrees to let Anton suck her blood so that he can get his strength back.  Months pass and Devon & Libby are no where to be found. Darby and Anton start to bond they become friends realizing the reason why Devon and Anton don't get along is the obvious...Libby and what she has done to Anton make them all realize that maybe she has done the same to Devon. Libby is after the “Blue Blood” its the most powerful vampire blood out there she has a lust for it and has actually done this (sucked blood) to several other men (she has a different man for every day of the week). Darby sets out to find her love Devon and she goes through a lot in order to get him back she feels deep down in her heart that he is alive, he is out there some where and she is determined to find him. The Larson’s (Dominic and Anton) think Darby is out of her mind and have lost any and every hope that Devon is still alive. Darby hires a P.I. (which becomes friends with them) to help her find Devon. They find Anton’s red car that Libby and Devon had left in and decide to follow it they find….Libby!  They make a plan with Anton to lure her back to him so Darby can go in and find Devon. The plan works like a charm and Darby rescues Devon who is completely weak with a very faint heart beat. She allows him to suck blood from her as she did Anton and it takes Devon more tries to get back to a somewhat “normal” state since he was further along than Anton but, they manage to bring him back! There is a lot more but, I don’t want to give away more than I already haveJ.  This is a great book and I could say Darby went a long way for true love!

Darby O’Rielly is a witch who is loving her life with new vampire boyfriend, Devon. When his estranged uncle, Dominic, shows up unexpectedly she finds her life flipped upside down.

Blood Lust is the third novel in a series by Ms. Tolle. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot, which involves my favorite things: vampires. The story is well played out, and the progression is easy to follow. I also found Darby, the main character, easy to relate to and likeable at most times.

Tolle creates several poignant moments in the book which we can all relate to at one point or another in our lives. For instance, there is a scene in which there’s been some tension right after Dominic’s arrival. When Darby and Devon go to bed, he rolls over, brooding and moody. Tolle observes, quite accurately, that sometimes, “the loneliest place in the world is lying next to the one you love.” This line stuck out to me in the story and set the tone for the next few chapters, if not the rest of the book.

I did have a hard time with Darby's devotion to her boyfriend while he was being such a cruel character. This played Devon off to be malicious and narcissistic, only worried about himself and how he's suffering. Darby, meanwhile, is left to seem a weak or spineless character, in spite of her random outbursts of anger.
One thing that drew me out of the story time and again were grammatical errors. Commas where they were unwarranted and missed quotation marks threw me for a loop. I found myself having to read a sentence or paragraph a few times over to comprehend what was said in the context of the story.

Otherwise, I enjoyed Blood Lust. I just wish there had been a tough round of edits for the piece, but I’m going to give it three stars for a strong plot.

Blood Lust, the third book in T. Lynne Tolles engaging Blood series, is a fast read that simply carried me away. In this story, the vampire Devon, Darcy’s lover, undergoes an almost inexplicable personality change. He distances himself emotionally from Darcy and the rest of his family. The odd behavior begins with an unexpected Thanksgiving visit from his uncle, and continues to become stranger and more intense as the story evolves. When an old flame returns and Devon disappears with her, it seems that he and Darcy are kaput – everyone advises her to move on with her life. But Darcy stubbornly refuses to give up; she is determined to uncover the truth, whatever the consequences.

This easy read flowed smoothly and coherently. At first, I found Darcy’s intractability irritating, and I just wanted to head smack Devon. But, then I began to admire her single-minded determination and grit. Unfortunately, I have not yet read the 2nd book in this series but the author provided just enough backstory so that I had no problem understanding the underlying context. Most of the characters were familiar to me from the first book, Blood of a Werewolf. While somewhat predicable in the resolution, I am eager for the next installment in this Young Adult series that will also appeal to mature readers. I am still hopeful I will find time in my reading schedule to peruse Blood Moon, book two, before moving on to final two installments.

This book was provided to me by the author and CBLS Book Tours in return for an honest review. No other compensation was received by me and my opinions are strictly my own.

In this installment, a surprise visit from Dominic demanding that the Bloomington boys come back home to Connecticut puts everyone on edge! He wants them to come back to see if they figure out what has been making his son ill. They have a lot of animosity towards each other for a very long time due to Devon thinking that Aston stole the love of his life Libby. So Blake does not head back because he has prior business he needs to attend to so he volunteers Darby to go instead that once his business is complete he will head back as well. There is so much to this great story, I don't want to give away any more that what I have. This is a great book and I could say Darby went a long way for true love!

What I loved about this read is true love never surrenders, gives up nor never dies. This is the 3rd book in the series and takes off where Blood Moon stopped. Dominic comes to get his nephews back home as his son Anton is sick. Vampire vixen’s every where and Darby is trying to find her boyfriend Devon. There is a lot that goes on in this story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I have not read the first two books, but I plan to do. I have to know more about these characters. If you like Vampires and Werewolves this book is for you.

The best of the series! A little darker than the first two books, but still relatively tame compared to other paranormal series. Every main character was believable and well drawn out. Nice ending, too!
