This book I read today is about a girl name Hanna . Hanna left alpha Betty school Hanna was a hippo that was very hungry Hanna went to the homer hogs baker . She went up the hill and went in the homer hogs baker. Hanna gave homer A big hug Hanna ask for a huckleberry muffins . Hanna at it very fast because she was very hungry when she was about too ask for another one she hic. Hanna was Sade because she codent. at another muffin Homer said to Hanna eat anther muffin but she hic. Again homer told her to hold her breath but she hic. Again when homer told Hanna to drink tea then Hanna hc. Again Hanna cry a rooster so how said she was so the rooster scared her and she stop hiccuping. Wonderful series for new readers. I ended up reading it to my new reader, but he probably could read it too. The alliteration was a real hit since they are working on that at preschool. I loved that lots of "h" words were used (some harder than most you'd see in a picture book) but we used those to work on vocabulary. I'd ask him if he knew what it meant and usually he got close- heap was lots- and I could help fill in ones he didn't know. So it's a great vocab builder and early reader. The stories are cute and fun too.

This is one of the best entries in the Animal antics a to z series. Here Hanna Hippo gets hiccups. The length of this one is shorter than the others so it's toddler appropriate. I love all the H words and sounds as that is the featured letter.

Part of the Animal Antics A to Z series. This one features the letter H. Hanna Hippo is hungry for huckleberry muffins but gets the hiccups after hustling up the hill to Homer Hog's bakery.... you get the idea. Lots of fun to read and good reinforcement of the letter H!

Once again the playful creativity of author Barbara deRubertis generates a lively story about Hanna Hippo. What's most frustrating about her horrible hiccups? Poor Hanna is foodily frustrated. (That's my term, not hers.)

How can she manage to eat one of Homer Hog's heavenly huckleberry muffins? Will those hiccups ever stop?

Fortunately, yes. Although I won't give my fellow Goodreaders an outright spoiler.
