I’ve read this book during summer vacation and it was nice, easy to read biographical novel. I really like the fact that I was able not only to read about the main characters but also about other big names of the time, in Paris and world as a whole. The book follows the story of Jeanne and portraits her journey of becoming a fashion icon, her friendships, lovers and life in general. This is one of rare nonfiction/real stories that really kept my interest throughout the book and I’ve learned a lot about bourgeoisie in the WW2. I was really happy to read about Coco Chanel and a bunch of familier names. All in all interesting and twisted novel about history, romance, women in war, jewelry and life. If you read this book you will not only have a chance to dive into dinamic lives of bourgeoisie in Paris, but also learn a lot about France and it’s state during the war.

Ova knjiga je puna istorijskih činjenica i ličnosti koje su sasvim lijepo utkane u radnju.

Ono što zapinje za oko su razmišljanja i postupci nekih ljudi nakon što se, brakom ili ličnim uspjehom, uzdignu na "viši nivo". Oni su odjednom iznad drugih i kompletna prošlost kao da bi im trebala nestati.
S druge strane su aristokrate i naslednici koji su neopterećeni svojim prihodima, ne moraju da misle na sutra jer je ono jednako kao i juče, ako ne i bolje i, samim tim, jednostavni u ophođenju.
Prvi se svim sredstvima bore ući u krug drugih, drugi su svjesni da novac rješava sve.

La storia è moooolto interessante, la biografia della donna che ha trasformato Cartier in ció che conosciamo dal punto di vista delle pietre miliari della sua storia, fino ad arrivare alla mitica e iconica pantera. Purtroppo la lettura è lenta con momenti di soli elenchi di nomi famosi, fastidiosa e per me con un ritmo quasi futurista (stile che odio) con tocchi di “harmony”: la voce narrante è la protagonista stessa e il tempo scorre cadenzato dagli uomini con cui è stata fino all’approdo alla Maison. Viene voglia di approfondire con un’altra biografia ma questo libro non è stato per me una bella esperienza di lettura.

Několikata kniha ze série Metafory, kterou píší různí autoři. Jde vždy o biografické romány. Tentokrát velmi důležité ženy že zákulisí Cartiera. Kniha je napsána čtivě a odhaluje pohnutý život jedné ženy. Cesta to byla klikatá, nečistá a bolestivá. Sice jsem z ní nebyla tak nadšená, jako u jiných knih této kategorie. Takhle asi tak.

Beautiful book! Such a strong message for women and you live the stories with Jeanne Toussaint.
The writing style is beautiful and gives life to the jewellery. I would recommend this to everyone interested with Cartier and the wonderful story of a Strong Woman

Absolutely mesmerizing story of a woman who was could have been a nobody living a small life in Belgium but got her chance to skip and turned out to be the brightest jewel Louis Cartier ever acquired. I could not tear myself until the very last line.
