Rate this book
Discover the incredible storehouse of power available in the faith, symbols, and practice of one of the world's great magickal traditions, when you read "The Truth About Teutonic Magick" by Edred Thorsson.
The deep secrets and great truths about how the Teutons practiced their troth and magick in days of yore--and how the Teutonic faith lives on today--is explored in "The Truth About Teutonic Magick. "Thorsson, a world-famous author and expert on northern European traditions and magick, has dedicated over 20 years to studying all aspects of the Teutonic magickal and religious tradition. He brings the fruit of that knowledge to you in this book.
"The Truth About Teutonic Magick" penetrates the mysteries of the two great traditions of Teutonic--or Germanic--magick: the practice of traveling to other dimensions and the system of magickal symbolism called the runes. "The Truth About Teutonic Magick "is a clear, fascinating introduction to Teutonic magick, covering:
-The key deities of Teutonic religion: Woden, Freya, Thor, Frigga, and others
-The divine realms and Yggdrasill
-The 24 runes--a magickal map of the cosmos and human consciousness
-The use of runic ritual for magickal and divinatory purposes
-Seidhr: the shamanic practice of traveling to other dimensions
-Rituals of Teutonic magick: hallowing, blessing, drinking, rede, giving, and more
-The sacred cycle of the year
-The Faustian tradition and Saturnian magick
If you want to discover the source of one of the most powerful magickal systems around (perhaps, reaching back to your own heritage), you should get "The Truth About Teutonic Magick.

A great short essay on the revival of Teutonic Magick from the late 1980s. Today the traditions it touches on are much more vitalized but this pamphlet gets at the roots of the revival in a short concise and clear format. Includes basic instructions for beginning practice with the Runes and Icelandic Stave Magick. A great supplement or introduction to the topic, especially in its historical context.

I've read a few books by Flowers/Thorsson now and this book comfortably reminds and organizes those talking points as a basic overview. It's a tiny book, simple language and print, with a title "the truth about...". This honestly feels like I'm reading a book intended for Scholastic publications, and maybe it was. It's nice to get a "here's what it is and how it works" without having to think very hard or decode very far.
