What happens on Valentine’s Day Stays on Valentine’s Day. Or does it?
Violet’s coffee shop is covered in hearts and flowers and love is in the air. And as Violet’s new manager, Holly can’t miss the annual Valentine’s Day mixer.
But she’s been keeping a secret… She has a crush on the town’s newest and hottest resident. And shh… He may or may not have it bad for her too—who knows? Nobody. Nobody knows. Because they don’t talk about it.
It seems like Cupid has taken aim at the hapless Holly and Liam— Or perhaps it’s Holly’s big sister Violet who’s determined to matchmake the clueless twosome instead.
Unfortunately for Holly, one conversation is all it takes to turn her little crush into a—big one. Now that she’s come face to face and Heart to Heart with Liam will she be able to resist him?
Catch up with the Sweetbriar Hearts on Valentine’s Day!
This short story is a prequel to the upcoming Heart to Heart. It can stand alone but is best read after From the Heart.
Nora Everly is a lifelong bookworm. She started reading the good stuff once she was tall enough to sneak the romance novels off the top of her mother’s bookshelf and it has been non-stop ever since. Once upon a time she was a substitute teacher and an educational assistant. Now, she’s a writer and stay at home mom to two small humans and one fat cat. Nora lives in the Pacific Northwest with her family and her overactive imagination.
Do you love quippy one-liners and romances about two people who act on their crush? This is the novella for you then. Nora Everly’s Sweetbriar setting is picture perfect and I was cackling with all of the zingers and swooning with these two characters.
I feel like Nora’s readers willed this novella into existence. I know I was messaging her about Liam getting a book as soon as I read In My Heart.
I was lucky enough to receive an early copy of Conversation Hearts and I loved every moment of it from the coffee puns to the heart balloons.
I was so happy to catch up with the other couples from the Sweetbriar Hearts series in this adorable Valentine’s Day story. Liam & Holly are so swoony and sweet. I can’t wait to read their full story.
I love the Sweetbriar Hearts series and this sweet novella is perfection.
Holly is crushing hard on Liam but she doesn’t realize he’s crushing on her too. Wonderful, matchmaking Vi forces them together and their true feelings come alive.
The balloon idea and outcome is hysterical. Looking forward to reading their full story.
“I was left speechless, breathless, and completely lost in the solid strength of his arms.”
I had the privilege to read an early copy of Conversation Hearts and I loved it! I adore Nora Everly’s Sweetbriar Hearts series. I’ve been crushing hard on Liam since he was first introduced in In My Heart. Conversation Hearts is a perfect short story prequel that gives readers character catch-ups while laying the foundation between Liam and Holly for their HEA in Heart to Heart. Conversation Hearts is a super sweet interlude with a little steam and a whole lotta punny wit! Just in time for a swoon-worthy Valentine’s Day love fest, Conversation Hearts is sure to melt your heart and stoke your love for Liam and Holly!
I love Sweetbriar. I have been waiting for Holly and Liam to find each other. I need more of their story. This was a taste, a morsel, just enough to get started. I need more than a crumb. The whole story is completely necessary at this point. I can't wait for a new full length Sweetbriar book. I need more from this family.
Oh this was so lovely and fun! Coffee puns and Liam and Holly? Count me in! We've been waiting for these two for a while and I can't wait to see more of them, since we now know their chemistry is lit!
This was the best little novella! It’s the perfect introduction to Holly & Liam. Their chemistry is off the charts and I can’t wait to see what happens next with them. Conversation Hearts is a great introduction to Nora’s Sweet Briar world (though it is technically book 3.5). You’ll meet these characters and it will definitely tempt you to go back and start from the beginning! I mean…I’m going to start this series over again as we speak…I mean type.
Conversation Hearts is a tantalizing tease at the upcoming Heart to Heart releasing in May. Now, if you're like me and saw an adorable cover by an author you only know from Smartypants Romance then you also wouldn't have realized that this teaser is part of a series. Oops! But now I'm not only looking forward to reading Holly and Liam's story this spring, I'm eager to read the previous books in the Sweetbriar Hearts series. Here they are in order in case you need to add them to your TBR too!
I sure do love the town of Sweetbriar, Oregon. To me, reading small town romance is like wearing fuzzy pj's while drinking your favorite warm beverage, wrapped in a cozy blanket by the crackling fire. This series is one hit of yum after the next with the familiar characters and relatable story lines that weave so perfectly together.
Liam and Holly are both part of town but holding themselves a bit on the outside while trying to figure out their next moves. Violet, Holly's sister is love drunk in her new relationship and determined to play matchmaker for every single person in town. A Valentine's day party at Vi's coffee shop is ground zero for all the singles, however Liam and Holly outsmart Vi and hide.
The coffee puns are hilarious. I just adored this novella! I'm looking forward to more of their story.
Conversation Hearts is such a sweet, romantic short story. I have never been one to really get into Valentine's Day, but Conversation Hearts has changed my mind. Sweetbriar Hearts have always been feel good reads for me that can lift me out of any funk. Conversation Hearts has left me smiling and wanting to let heart balloons fly.
The love oozed off the pages. Vi has done an amazing job have bring Valentine's Day into her coffee shop. I got the impression that there wasn't a single space left without some sort of symbol of the day. There is a good reason why people want to attend her after hour parties.
The matchmakers are going to be busy trying to set up the still single members of their extended families. Holly does not want to fall victim to their meddling. Liam wants nothing to do with the attempts by the matchmaker. They both have the same goal--avoid them at all costs.
But will the cost be too high? Holly is off-limits to Liam. Liam isn't worthy of Holly. Hiding together might just make them think differently.
As soon as I saw the super cute cover I knew I had to read it! This was my first read from Nora Everly and I absolutely loved it! Conversation Hearts is a prequel to the next book in the Sweetbriar Hearts series called Heart to Heart. It can definitely be read as a stand alone but if you’re like me you will immediately want to binge the rest of the series. I can’t wait to read more of Liam and Hollys story in the next book!
It’s time for the annual Sweetbriar Valentine’s Day mixer and the matchmakers are out in full force. Holly just wants to help her sister with the party while also avoiding being paired off with any of the town’s singles. She only has eyes for Liam even if he doesn't know it…yet.
This Valentine’s Day themed novella is part of the Sweetbriar Hearts series. It is the prequel to Heart to Heart. I highly suggest reading books 1-3 before reading Conversation Hearts.
Sisters always know and Violet was determined to get Holly and Liam together whether they were ready for it or not. The visual of poor Violet trying to gather up all of the heart balloons, to get people to behave themselves, had me cackling.
I have read many of Nora Everly’s books, across various series, and she never disappoints. Conversation Hearts gives the perfect little sample of the author’s style of writing. Her sense of humor pours from the MCs sweet and sassy banter.
Holly and Liam seem perfect for one another. I already adore these characters and I can’t wait to get to know them more in Heart to Heart.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book was super cute but left me wanting so much more for Holly and Liam. It felt like such a tease! I loved the back office scene as tension escalated between the two especially with the cheese moment and balloons. I loved all the coffee and tea puns as they were funny! The line about “taking the piss” had me laughing! 👏 Enjoyable novella!
Oh my goodness... what a way to introduce the upcoming book with these two characters. The chemistry during the other books in this series between Liam and Holly has just been brought to the forefront in Conversation Hearts! I cannot wait for their full length story! 5* Nora.
This was the perfect novella at the perfect time. Nora Everly tucked so much good stuff into a small package and left me wanting more. It's funny, so sweet, and it was so comforting to be back in Sweetbriar. I can not wait for Holly and Liam's full story!
This short, sweet novella was exactly as expected… adorable. With cameo’s from past couples and a perfect prologue to Liam and Holly’s story, I loved every moment of it!
This novella is part of my favorite small town romance series (Sweetbriar) from my favorite small town romance author (Nora Everly) and is the perfect bite-sized, candy heart-shaped morsel to try out this author. This little gem could absolutely be read as a stand alone if you wanted, although I have a feeling you might end up binging the series. So excited for Liam and Holly’s full-length story!!!
This is a light, quick read whether you are familiar with the Sweetbriar series or not. This is a great introduction to the crazy cast of characters and focuses on Liam and Holly, who are featured in an upcoming book.
This is a fun way to get to know these two and get some insight into the antics that town is capable of. Liam and Holly seem like a great couple and I’m so excited to read more!
If you haven’t read any of the Sweetbriar stories, I recommend the whole series!
This is such a cute novella which sets the stage for SOMETHING BIG!! I can’t wait until they get a full story.
The novella follows Liam and Holly and they try to prepare for the dreaded holiday if Valentine’s Day as single people. They are just so loveable. I really can’t wait to see what these two get up to.
Holly is currently a grumpy, kind of down on her luck, trying to get her life together, working for her sister, crashing on her brothers couch, and definitely not looking for love woman.
Liam is a hunky ex Army Ranger, who has some scars from his past, but he’s starting fresh and it feels good. He’s also crushing on his best friends sister-in-law 👀
They have this electricity between them that they both can feel but haven’t acted on it. Until the Valentines Day party, when they get thrown together and 💥 sparks fly!
Y’all Nora is one of those authors that I just love, I accidentally found her and am working my way through her books 😍
I could feel the draw that they had to each other and I couldn’t wait for that moment!! I can’t wait for their book to come out, in the mean time I’m going to read this series so I’m all caught up and ready 🥰
Recommend but make sure you read the series in order! ❤️
What happens when you have a meddling sister who likes to play matchmaker and is an owner of a well to do bakery? Well surrender and just go with it? Or fight back? Liam is new in town and is wanting to ask Holly out but doesn’t have the courage to do so. But, when his brother invites him to a chindig his wife is throwing he is there because he knows Ms. holly will be there. After the week of so,e foolishness I decided to dive into this, well I saw the sign up to read this Arc. And I am so glad. This is a prequel to how these two might get things started when they are at a valentine get together. What happen ya’ll?
Liam is an ex-Army Ranger. He now works at McCabe’s Construction, his best friend Luke’s family business. As it turns out, Holly is Luke’s sister-in-law’s little sister. Yes, Liam is way too attracted to her, but thinks she’s off limits. Holly works for her sister, Violet’s coffee shop part-time in Sweetbriar, Oregon. Tonight is the Valentine’s Day Mixer her sister holds every year. In walks Liam, Holly’s eye candy for the few months since she back to town. Their chemistry can’t be avoided once they’re in each other’s company. More to come in Heart to Heart. Can’t wait!
This Valentine’s Day novella is the perfect introduction to the next Sweetbriar novel, Heart to Heart, which will be released in May – and if you’re not familiar with the small town of Sweetbriar, Oregon, or the Barrett family siblings, this is a perfect introduction to them, too. Though I recommend starting from the very beginning!
Conversation Hearts will be out on February 10 - if you love coffee puns, witty one-liners, pining, and main characters who have loads of chemistry, then this is your Valentine’s Day read for sure. Words cannot espresso how happy it made me!
it’s a 2 star because it’s just a short novella not because i didn’t like it, i thought it was cute. i’m not a novella girl really but i’ve been reading short novellas this valentines and this was short and sweet. i’m interested in reading more from the couple in future 🤍 if you are looking for a story where a girl acts on her crush that’s quick and easy this is for you.
This sweet Valentine's day novella is a peak into Holly Barrett's Valentine's day dilemma! She is attracted to her sister's husband's best friend Liam Carter but she doesn't feel that she is ready for a relationship and doesn't want to be pressured by her loving but interfering family. Well hiding out in the back room isn't going to help her either!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Valentine's Day is traditionally a day of love and celebration, but for Holly and Liam, it might be a bit more complicated than that. Despite being known as 'love birds,' they may have some underlying issues or conflicts that need to be addressed before they can truly enjoy each other's company.
This was a cute, quick read! Holly is back home and crushing on Liam. Liam is her brother-in-law’s best friend. Liam and Luke are back from the Army. The chapter headers are awesome! I love a good pun and Valentine’s Day at a coffee house is fun.
If you're unfamiliar with this series, this is a bad choice to begin reading. Not much made sense nor was it particularly engaging. Cute premise and if I knew the characters I would probably given it another star.
