Tyler Davis wants to get closer to Megan Garvey, the love he lost several years prior when he went off to police academy. Megan has recently returned to town. So he takes her son shopping, pretending it's part of his police station's charity. And then the son, Connor, gets kidnapped! Megan soon gets an idea of the motive, when a mysterious phone call asks her to download the security codes from one of the companies she does cleaning for. The kidnapper doesn't want the police involved, but Tyler nonetheless assists Megan where he can.

"A Cop In Her Stocking". A bit of a silly name, really. I couldn't help but think what sort of story we might have got if this were called "A Cop In Her Stockings". There were no real faults here, but nothing stood out either. I suppose I didn't quite follow Megan's reasoning for refusing to wait for Tyler while he went to police academy, or why she was happy to accept help from everybody but him, but it didn't detract from the story. This one had some good plot twists on the way to its conclusion, and I'm pleased there was no sex while attempting to get Connor back. I can never understand it in romance books when the characters stop what they're doing to have a roll in the hay when a child's life is at stake, so thankfully there was none of that here! Just hugs and kisses, which are understandable in the circumstances. A pleasant read.

I'd give this 2 1/2 stars because the difference between 2 stars and 3 seems harsh. I enjoyed the mystery and for that reason alone I was having a hard time putting it down and just wanted to keep reading to the end. At least I think it was due to the mystery element...I don't know whether it was because I was waiting for some good romance to start up or for the child to be found. Really didn't feel a ton of chemistry between the couple even though they have a history. I also have a hard time getting invested in a romance when a child's life is supposedly in danger. Yes, I know it's a Harlequin and there will very likely be a happy ending and the child will be safe.
