Despite the suspicious origins of the work it doesnt seem far fetched for this to be an accurate reproduction of the conqueror's thoughts. The author appears not just as a cold calculating tyrant who unflinchingly orders the massacre of 100k POWs but also as a man moved to tears by gratitude to God and at other times fascinated by talking parrots yet still taking morbid glee in the cruel ways his enemies perished. An enigmatic work that truly reflects the humble devotee, doting grandfather and cruel tyrant that produced it.
