This is a very competent and in-depth history of the Champlain Valley, and the effects of the lakes there. Bellico clearly lays out history, construction methods, and key individuals throughout the text. My only serious concern with the work is the space given to the Indigenous population, which I think could be increased, and with more of an attempt made to pull indigenous humanity out of the European source base.
