Tarde de invierno/Winter Afternoon

Rate this book
In this simple, evocative book a little girl stands at a frosty window waiting for her mother to come home. She draws in the condensation on the windowpane and wonders where her mother is and when she might return. This book, featuring wonderfully atmospheric images by Mandana Sadat, perfectly captures both the feeling of a foggy, gray winter afternoon and the kind of lonesome, hopeful, watchful waiting that is so familiar to any child who has waited for a parent.

My favorite part of this book is that it is in both English and Spanish. It would be a great book to have in the classroom as Spanish speaking students could read it, if they aren't comfortable with a book in English. Published August 6th, 2006. No awards. Realistic Fiction.

I've started a Bilingual Storytime and I've had such a hard time finding books that are geared to the toddler - preschool age. I came across this beautifully illustrated bilingual book and fell in love. The text is simple for both English and Spanish readers and the illustrations are enchanting!

Mandana Sadat convirtió este poema de Jorge Luján en un verdadero collage al amor paternal. Entramos a la ciudad, entramos al poema, salimos del poema, salimos de la ciudad.
