This book is an excellent addition to my cookbook library. What makes this one different? Well for starters there are useful looking recipes for using leftovers including a breakfast hash and a variety of soups and an excellent looking turkey enchiladas recipe. I also like that there are a good mix of recipes for the turkey itself including instructions for butterflying a turkey (which I have not seen instructions for previously), grilling a turkey and making a turkey breast. All looked great and some of these recipes will be useful for non-Thanksgiving purposes. (You could for example substitute leftover roast chicken in any of the leftover recipes.) Additionally, there are a good number of interesting ideas for using cranberries which I happen to love. My one wish is that there had been more recipes for pomegranate and citrus (both of which are in season then). Even then there is a key lime recipes and a couple of calls for pomegranates. If you are a holiday cooking nerd, you won't want to miss this cookbook.
Thanksgiving is the favorite holiday of millions of Americans. And with so many diverse regions across the United States, it's no surprise to find that the Thanksgiving menu changes significantly from New England to the Pacific Northwest. This is the quintessential cookbook for our national day of thanks, capturing this diversity with creative recipes for the perfect dinner and providing the key to a stress-free occasion with author Diane Morgan's indispensable do-ahead tips. Including appetizers, soups, salads, main courses, stuffings, casseroles, biscuits, side dishes, desserts, and even leftovers, it contains everything the busy cook needs to celebrate this most festive and food-centered of holidays!
It seems silly to mark this as "read". This a great cookbook. A wonderful spicy cornbread recipe and apple raisin pie to die for. I checked it out from the library and will be purchasing one. Can't wait to explore other recipes soon.
