Dies ist ein großartiges Buch. Ich genoss dieses Buch zu lesen. Dieses Buch ist eine interessante Randbemerkung aus der Geschichte des Zweiten Weltkriegs. Ok. This took me a year and a half to read, mostly because at this point my German is so rusty that it was spent with a dictionary in one hand and the book in the other. In any case having read: "The Amber Room: The Fate of the World Greatest Lost Treasure," by Catherine Scott-Clark and Adrian Levy, my interest was piqued and I thought it would be a good read. Plus I was in Berlin and it was on the leavings table, how could I resist!?
It was, and had far less of the breathless, tabloidisms of "The Amber Room" so that was good. However not having read that many books totally in German I am not really able to make an assessment on the author's style--so my rating must be taken as my difficulty in reading (therefore less enjoyment) than the author's failure. A very interesting side note from WWII history. It is well researched and presented in a straightforward manner. If you are thinking about getting your German up to speed over the summer and you are looking for an interesting read I recommend it. If I can do it you can too.
