Another clever travelogue, this time to the imaginary and marvelous Filbert Islands. Downloaded this to my iPhone and read it digitally. Pun-haters should avoid this book like the plague.

I read it because it has a very tangential, coincidental connection to the disappearance of Amelia Earhart: published by her husband, and takes place in the area where she disappeared. Otherwise no connection.

But it's humorous, short, and free! (on Kindle). For those who have cruised the South Pacific on their own keels the puns and the caricatures will be particularly humorous.

At least it was a very fast read. I didn't realize it was a parody/joke book when I bought it. So in that regard, I was disappointed.
As a parody/joke book, I didn't find it particularly clever or comical.

I had this book on the shelf for the past 35 years. Had looked at it a few times but when I had seen one of the pictures in the front, I decided it must be by a stupid rich fat headed explorer . Well, I read it and after the first 2 pages, I learned that it WAS ALL A JOKE, a very very funny farce of a book. wonderfully funny. was written 95 years ago and I just got around to reading it. That makes me the stupid fat headed reader, I guess??

A classic of the genre- This, and other titles such as "Through the alimentary canal with gun and camera" and "My Northern Exposure" deftly skewer the popular 1920's genre of exotic travel books. If they don't see as amusing these days it's because no one reads the originals.

Another delightful exploration spoof, this time to the Filbert Islands. Quite droll humor, and great for people who have read a lot of early 20th Century exploration lit.
