A field trip to Washington, D.C. turns into a middle-grade mystery! In this Field Trip Mysteries book, sixth-grader Edward "Egg" Garrison and his friends travel to the nation's capital. But when they arrived at Union Station, people scream and flee the popular landmark. They've seen a ghost, the ghost of George Washington, the first U.S. president! The four friends find themselves smackdab in another mind-bending mystery. And if they don't act fast, the United States Capitol will soon become a haunted house. Written by acclaimed author Steve Brezenoff, this easy-to-read chapter book is sprinkled with visual and verbal clues, allowing emergent readers to solve the mystery themselves. A perfect choice for budding mystery lovers.
Steve Brezenoff is the author of the young adult novels The Absolute Value of -1 and Brooklyn, Burning, and his third, Guy In Real Life, will be released in 2014. He has also written dozens of chapter books for younger readers. Though Steve grew up in a suburb on Long Island, he now lives with his wife and their son in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Another mystery by Steve Brezenoff, another great story. In this story, Egg and his friends are off on a field trip to Washington, DC. When they get there, they start seeing the ghost of George Washington at different sites around the city.
I liked the way this mystery unfolded. It was quite an interesting solution. Yet again, there was the feeling of a Scooby-Doo-type mystery, which is what makes listening to these stories so much fun.
I would definitely recommend this series (Field Trip Mysteries) and this author to any kid who likes a good mystery and any adult who still likes to indulge their inner child every now and then.

Excellent children's series about a boy named Edward G. Garrison, aka Egg and his three friends, Gum, Cat and Sam who are serious about solving mysteries. Written by Steven Brezenoff, it is a fun and adventurous series of books centered around the four students and recurring boys, girls and adults.
In this adventure the children take a train to Washington DC for their sixth grade field trip. The group encounters a series of ghostly events that make for a very interesting mystery, because everyone knows there are no ghosts.
I think the book is very well suited for advanced fourth graders through sixth grade. It is concise and draws the reader in from the start. The characters are likeable and fun. They are also clever and full of common sense.
I wish these books were around when my sons were in school, they would have enjoyed them.
A group of friends a school field trip to washington dc and the ghost of george washington!!! The classic story of best friend, mixed with a peranormal activity, with a hint of mystory that would lead you wondering, it shore did the same for me!! Normaly im a full non fiction type of guy, but if you give it a chance youd sure end up finishing the book at 10:00 pm at night.
