EXPLICIT CONTENT (SEX, VIOLENCE, DRUGS, PROFANITY) Nathaniel, teenage occultist, is in love with Jithinia, a nihilistic sexpot. All is well, until they meet Eldridge. A shape-shifting creature from another dimension, he is quite mad. He still feels the ghostly remnants of his amputated wings. He can smell them rotting, feel the squirming maggots eating them. The only thing that eases his suffering is devouring souls. Cursed with this hunger, he knows that he is a monster, which only feeds his lunacy. He is moments away from killing Nathaniel when he discovers something so astounding, he cannot continue. As he falls in love with Nathaniel, he learns that true horror lies not in his monstrosity, but in his growing humanity. Danielle was abducted and physically mutilated in the name of God for years. Her vile keeper, Preacher, tortures his broken dolls until they pray, to help them find God. One day, Danielle does. She reunites with her lost love Jithinia, whose world is now spinning out of control. What follows is a magnum opus of magick and the true nature of God as the characters make their way through the sordid underbelly of modern Christian America.
Expand the mind, expand the soul! The Paradox Chronicles are a series of metaphysical allegories which use extreme imagery and scenarios to jolt the psyche as a catalyst for spiritual growth. Mind expansion doesn’t mean to simply elevate one’s thoughts in the highest direction; one must also debase one’s thoughts in the lowest direction. Only then is the mind truly expanding in a balanced and veracious fashion. This book series attempts to rouse people from their hypnotic waking sleep. The Paradox Chronicles utilizes shock and horror juxtaposed with higher spiritual thinking to catapult the ego past its blockades, allowing for a deeper understanding of the veiled essence of divinity. Asphyxia illustrates the power of perception and will, of enlightenment sought through debauchery, of awakening through titillation. Falling somewhere between the genres of visionary fiction and paranormal erotic horror, Asphyxia is a unique blend of depravity and insight.
Hailing from the outskirts of Mayberry, North Carolina, Gori Suture has been writing fiction since she could hold a crayon. In addition to penning Grand Guignol style horror stories and audiobooks, she is also the creator of a hybrid genre of literature that melds metaphysical and visionary fiction with erotic horror for the purpose of spiritual advancement. Presented in a series of seven novels called The Paradox Chronicles (formerly The Smut Sagas), these books are allegorical, chronicling man’s pursuit of understanding God and the god within, juxtaposing eroticism and horror with metaphysical introspection for the sake of jarring the reader into an altered mental state. Additionally, as an occult theorist, Gori Suture is the mother of modern Paradoxism, her interpretation of the mind-bending nature of God as Paradox, expounded upon in her book series The Color of Paradox, where she presents radical elucidations on color theory, Kabbalah, the Rosy Cross, the dimensions, and the gods. As an artist, Gori illustrates her own blogs, short stories, and audiobooks, and she co-creates the covers of her novels. For fun, Gori enjoys tabletop role-playing, Arkham Horror board games, and video games.
What can I say about Gori? She's the most creative, sharp author to debut in this decade, for one. Extremely provocative, wickedly delicious. Not for the faint of heart or the narrow of mind. Read her work only if you never want to be the same (in the best way possible).
It's hard to know where to begin writing a review for Asphyxia, since it's the most grim and violent love story I've ever read. Or the kinkiest creation myth. Or the funniest tale of misfit misery. Or something. I guess the closest I can come to describing it to someone who hasn't read it yet is that it's like getting hit in the groin with a piece of hot skull-fragment shrapnel that was the result of the author tying Alan Moore to a tree and firing Poppy Z. Brite at him out of a large cannon. I gave it 3 stars not because I thought it was only "meh" good, so much as when it's good it's great and when it's not so good it's sort of awful, so everything averages out. Things get off to a shaky start with a quick but confusing history of the creation of the universe in which the story takes place - just file it away for later. Much later as it turns out, but it will mostly make sense in the end. We are then introduced to the major characters, and it all seems to be a standard hand-to-back-of-forehead tale of goth romance amidst the cretinous denizens of middle America until chapter four. Chapter four was when everything clicked and I actually started to care. It was funny and sad and sexy and entirely real. I saw the potential these characters had and I knew I was going to have to see this through to the end, so I quit fighting and decided to just lay back and enjoy it so to speak. From there on the story builds in intensity and weirdness, with the otherworldly aspects gradually creeping in from the fringes until everyone is either dead or completely transformed by their experiences and we finally find out why the true nature of the way their world works is so important. Patience is a virtue when reading Asphyxia, as you're not going to get everything handed to you up front - you have to take the whole bumpy ride if you want to eventually see what's behind the curtain. The kind of people who would be shocked and offended by all the sex, violence and Christian-bashing in this story probably aren't ever going to come within a mile of reading it in the first place, but even though she's "preaching to the choir" here, Gori will still manage to shock even the most jaded of her readers, not so much with the lovingly detailed descriptions of the various fun and/or horrifying things people (and other creatures) can do to each other as with her wildly inappropriate sense of humor. I lost track of the number of times that the tension of a particularly vivid scene was finally broken when I had to laugh out loud after being sucker-punched by yet another great quotable line. The humor is blacker than a double espresso but surprisingly effective in making the characters feel like real people reacting to overwhelming scary awfulness in entirely believable ways, i.e. taking what comfort they can in sharing sex, drugs and snarky comments. That sense of humanity never gets lost in the big convoluted mess of a plot, so even though Asphyxia would benefit greatly from another pass or two, preferably with the help of a professional editor, IMHO it's still an enjoyable thrill-ride and hopefully the first of many such tales by a promising author.
This was definitely one of the strangest stories I've ever read. Gori Suture's writing style is akin to Edgar Allen Poe's in many ways, but at the same time it's quite different. The story is quite longer than most books of either genre this book falls under, but it captivates the mind and for some even the soul. The reader will fall almost instantly into the goth world as they follow the lives of Jithinia, Nathaniel, Eldridge, and Danielle. While I'm not a fan of erotica, I found even though there was quite a bit of sex, it was a vital part of the storyline. Without it the story would have seemed empty. This story is bound to piss off people with the way genesis is interpreted, but then again, perhaps those types wouldn't read this to begin with. I absolutely loved the interpretations of genesis. It actually made a whole lot more sense then the original version lol. Among the few alternate bible stories, there is talk of the flow of energies and what they all mean and where they come from. It's almost like a lesson. Gori has done her work to be as accurate and true to the lesson plan as possible. All in all, this book (as I'm sure the others are) is like the love child of Poe and the Twilight Zone. With it's cryptic styled writing, and strange storyline, it's sure to become a cult classic among the goth world and perhaps other places as well. For the engaging story and new out look on things, and the fact I only found 1 error in the entire book... I give this book 5 of 5 paws
first i think anyone who knows me including this books author knows this is not a genra of book i read . so im not shure im the best for it . but that being said . i didnt love or hate this book there are parts that are great and others that seem to be there for shock value that did absolutly nothing for me . i think the shearamout of constantly esculating graffic sex scenes were a little to much for me but i dont read erotica at all . the author doest hide her distain for religion at all . often pushing it into the forground sometimes when it isnt necessery . the characters are very real .you know these people . and they know you and becouse of this you stick with them . even as things happen where in other books you would throw the book across the room and say "im done ".
over all i think this book has some great concepts . and im shure fans of what i guess is horror-erotica will appriciate it more than me . but even to me this book was worth the read .
Imagine an Erotic Fantasy/Horror novel that exercises the mind as it titillates it.Now imagine one so seamy and dirty it shocks and arouses you, even as it breaks your goddamn heart. Now imagine these are the same book!My mind reeled with every flash and stab of Eldridge's Jeweled Hatpin and the characters hypnotic dance toward Hawking's "Big Crunch". I was in Ms. Suture's savage grip just shortly in to the 2nd chapter and she never really gives you time to breathe as she strokes you to a thunderous and bloody climax later on.The book's ideas are shocking in places and almost flung at you much like a handful of pointy gravel. In some ways it almost hurts after finishing this intricate and sexy read. Like sex itself it is complicated, sweet, tender, offensive, and occasionally risky and almost wholly absorbing and unexpected. Like unprotected sex with a gorgeous brutal stranger. 5 out of 5 for me.
Here you get a heaping handful of all the essentials of a great read: Drugs, sex and violence! Gori Suture's obscene carnival of freaks will have you glued to every page. Nathaniel is suddenly brought into light on what his proper heritage is while embarking on a very sexual yet drug induced journey with Elderidge, Jithinia, and Danielle. After reading the very descriptive intensely described sex scenes you will be 100% hot and bothered under that cozy collar of yours. Like a fiend you will then sit patiently yet screaming inside for volume two with the wonders of what michief these very sexual beings might get erotically into.
