Anna wants to get married. Her boyfriend Chris wants to wait. But now, help may be on the way. Meet Jeff and Dave, two commitment phobic guys who overhear the couple arguing at a popular Chicago bar, and guarantee Anna they can con Chris into springing for a ring and walking down the aisle. When she takes them up on their offer, and the plan actually works, the three decide they re going into business to help other bride wannabes. Come along for the ride with Anna and these two lovable, very funny guys while they take on clients, manipulate boyfriends, and turn frustrated girls into blushing brides, all while raking in the cash. But the marriage business gets messy when Jeff discovers he s got a little problem. He never counted on falling madly in love with Anna, his new business partner and the girl who s now planning her wedding, thanks to him. Hook, Line and Sink Him is a hilarious and heartwarming story about fear of commitment, reflection, and the beauty of devotion and loyalty with the right person. It will have you laughing and crying at the same time, while cheering for Jeff as he discovers that maybe the average guy wearing the gold band on his left hand isn't a sucker after all. Maybe he's the sucker. And maybe having the guts to go after love is what makes someone who ordinarily sprints from relationships, a truly happy person.

Hook, Line and Sink Him's a refreshing evening or weekend read. I won't give away the plot twists but it's a funny novel that's not what you expect it to be from the title. After I read it, I thought, I could enjoy this book as a movie or weekly tv show. There's a little bit of everyone in all of the characters, so all readers, who want love or to be loved, can learn something new from this story. It left me hooked!
Jeff’s a guy whose not only a commitment-phobe, but a guy who has sworn off girls almost entirely. After a dramatic ending to a high school romance he and his good friend Jeff decide girls aren’t worth the trouble, that is until he meets Anna and her commitment-phobe boyfriend. Not only do Jeff, Dave and Anna go into the business of helping girls “hook” their guys, but Anna also happens to be a somewhat-happy customer. Things go great until Jeff realizes he’s head over heels in love with Anna and she’s scheduled to be married very soon.
This was, yet again, another novel I fell in love with. From annoying the heck out of my husband because of my near constant giggles and not being able to set it down this is a book I’d definitely even read again! Yes, I’d read it again, it was just that good. Each of the characters was authentic and I connected so well with them that I almost didn’t want the book to end. Not to mention the idea of two men who detest the very idea of marriage working with a recently engaged woman to sell marriage to other men, was so original.
One of the main reasons I fell in love with this story was its originality, not only in the story line but more specifically in the point of view. Even outside of Chick Lit, it’s rare to come across a main character who is male and written by a female author who is a purely authentic male voice. It’s a difficult task, no doubt, and Pilossoph executes Jeff’s character perfectly. From the first pages when you witness his heartbreaking discovery of his first love with another man to his struggle to come to terms with his love for Anna, he’s someone you can’t help but like. His character, as well as the others, is one you won’t easily forget and believe in all the way to the last page.
Hook, Line and Sink Him is a brilliant take on Chick Lit you won’t have read before. From a male narrator to a beautifully written love story with lots of laughs you won’t want to put this one down until you turn the last page. Jackie Pilossoph has planted her feet firmly in the field of expert Chick Lit authors and I’d be surprised to not see her succeed in the future. I’m definitely looking forward to reading her future novels! For those in need of a fantastic love story with lots of laughs Hook, Line and Sink Him should be your next read!
I won Hook Line and Sink Him from first reads! (Thank You!) Its nice to read a cute, fun story. LOL love the title too. Really felt bad for Jeff in the beginning. Good summer read.....looking forward to reading more from Jackie Pilossoph!
A very comical and endearing novel concerning the final act of commitment (spending your entire life with that special someone) that is written from the guy's point-of-view, which is a nice change from the woman's side. Jeff and Dave are two young guys who come upon a couple, Chris and Anna, who are arguing about Anna wanting to become Chris' wife and his fear of commitment. Anna is more than ready to take the plunge, but Chris is adament about waiting until he is 100% certain that he is ready. Jeff and Dave decide to help Anna get what she wants...an engagement ring with a full lifetime commited marriage from Chris. While trying to accomplish this, however, Jeff finds himself falling for Anna while the two bachelors establish a business for women to ensnare their husband-to-be behind his back. A funny and engaging novel that has you applauding the two men responsible for the unlikely task of matchmaking. Laugh-out-loud funny!
Hook Line and Sink Him is a funny romantic novel. Jeff is a guy who has sworn off girls almost entirely,he's also a commitment phobe since a really dramatic ending to a romance in high school. He and Dave his best friend have decided girls just aren't worth the trouble' until he meets Anna and her commitment phobe boyfriend. Jeff, Dave and Anna go into the business of helping girls hook their guys. Anna also happens to be a somewhat happy customer. Things are going great until Jeff realizes he's in love with Anna and she's going to be married soon. What should Jeff do thats the question? Let Anna get married or confess he loves her? have to read the book to find out . look forward to more books by this author. throughly enjoyed it.
I liked the characters in the book. I thought the concept of this book was great. However, there was something missing, which I really can't put my finger on. I'll let you know if I figure it out. If you like chick lit, this is one of the better ones, so I recommend it!
Fun book, and one of the first chick lit books I've read from the male pov. Chicago setting and great secondary charaacters made it stand out even more..
Very interesting read. It actually reminded me of the college days. It is a very good read with some tactics to get him to marry you, if you aren't already married. HAHAHA
