I think Luterman is one of the finest poets around, especially in her ability to leap from the mundane to the spiritual. She isn't afraid to tackle messy stuff, shedding unexpected insight and light upon her subject matter.
Alison Luterman's first book of poetry reads like a first book of poetry. There are a handful of great poems, if you can still with the collection to find them. I became bored with all the relationship poems in section two. A different order to keep similar poems spread out might have made this a much better volume of poetry.
