I am very surprised, and also very bummed about the fact that this book isn't fully on this site. Complaints aside, I decided to take a different approach to a basic counting book. When I was young I wished my family (of direct Puerto Rican decent) would have actually taught me Spanish. Yes, they spoke some simple vocabulary and phrases to me, but I firmly believe that kids should start to learn a second language as soon as possible. For this reason, I chose this book that counts certain nouns in the Spanish language. This 47 page book, yes, a fantastic 47 page book, not only counts has a certain number for nouns, but leaves many nouns to be given a number. This gives the audience, or the child the ability to create their own counting environment. Along with that, they can exposed to some aspects of another culture. Allowing them insight into the world and other students. The illustrations are simple but give a very accurate depiction of what each object is and make it easy for the children to learn by association what each object is in English and Spanish, and visa-versa. This book can endlessly be used in the classroom and used a teaching tool for many subjects.
My 4-year-old granddaughter received this book as a gift and she loves it. The illustrations with their bright colors are perfect for young children. This is an enjoyable book to teach beginning number concepts.
